Switzerland turns into a "nest" of Russian spies, as Putin's

British authorities have expelled a series of Russian diplomats and businessmen since 2018, an example that most of Europe then followed, but now the new center of espionage seems to have moved further into the heart of the continent.

According to the British media 'DailyStar', a new intelligence report says that Switzerland is the central European point of Russian spies, as one fifth of Moscow's international agents already operate from a "neutral" country, which means about 80 of them.

Cities such as Bern and Geneva are the points where Moscow has moved its intelligence officers, often wearing diplomatic titles.

About half of diplomatic delegations have left their countries since the start of the attack on Ukraine last year, says the head of British intelligence MI6, Richard Moore. Even the head of its sister MI5, Ken McCallum, said earlier: "The departures were a serious blow to the Russian intelligence services in European countries."

But the latest data from the Swiss intelligence services raise the alarm about the concentration of spies in the country of the Schengen zone where, according to experts, the espionage networks are expanding towards the areas from which they have been expelled.

In a local intelligence report, it was said that Russian intelligence has expanded in the country and is already preparing for new steps, writes the Swiss daily Neue Zürcher Zeitung.

UNHCR and the World Trade Organization have their headquarters in Geneva and must allow accreditations, which was also mentioned by the Swiss MP Fabian Molina, who said: "Foreign agents threaten both the internal security of Switzerland and the international security."
