The year 2025 is expected to be a very busy year for Albanian justice. SPAK reaped quite a bit of success during the past year, but the signals are that we will have other sensational developments.
The start of the trial for Sali Berisha is awaited with great interest. The former prime minister is accused of corruption with the privatization of the former "Partizani" complex, favoring his son-in-law. But Berisha, in addition to the "Partizani" file, has other accounts that have not been washed with justice.
His biggest fear is Gërdeci. SPAK is investigating the trafficking of cartridges and Shkëlzen's name appears in many testimonies. It is Berisha who has his problem, as he himself knows that he is not old enough to go to prison.
Let's not forget some other lawsuits that have been filed against him, for example by the Haklaj family. There may also be developments on the privatization of OSSH by CEZ.
Another trial is the one for Fatmir Mediu. In the first months of 2025, the process against the former Minister of Defense for "Gërdec" will probably be closed and we will see if we will get justice for the 26 killed.
Undoubtedly, Edi Rama should also be afraid. There are two files that terrorize the prime minister. The first is the "McGonigal" file. The Americans don't forgive him for that affair, and that's why Rama wanted Trump's victory. The second file is that of Xibraka. That's where Olsi and Rama come out, that's why they're putting pressure on SPAK.
We have two former ministers of Rama who risk prison and developments are expected from SPAK. The first is Olta Xhaçka. The former Minister of Defense is under investigation for affairs with the army's properties, especially for the privatization of the port in Saranda. The investigations have been going on for many months and Rama therefore does not remove his mandate because he is afraid of a security measure. The signals are that SPAK has closed the file and it is not surprising that Olta will go to trial.
Another name is Frida Krifca. When he was in charge of AZHBR, Krifca embezzled IPARD funds and the EU does not forgive him. Because of the theft of funds, Beqaj is in prison today. SPAK has advanced with the investigations and developments are expected.
Many judges and prosecutors are at risk. SPAK is expected to carry out an action similar to that of Elbasan, where Suel Çela's gang was hit. There are hundreds of judges and prosecutors who attend the "Sky ECC" wiretapping and developments are expected.
Other troubles for Ilir Meta are not excluded. SPAK has opened the property files and we can see pearls from the properties that the former president has hidden. Meanwhile, SPAK will most likely send the former president to trial this year.
For Ilir Beqaj we may have additional charges. SPAK is also investigating other health concessions besides sterilization. Also this year we will have the start of the trial for the former minister.
SPAK is also investigating the wealth of many MPs and we may have some names in the courtroom.
