Edi Rama and the global 'kapos' syndrome
Edi Rama /

The arrogance of the Albanian prime minister on the international stage, more than a diplomatic nuisance, turns him into a comical figure that no one takes seriously...

At an International Conference held today, with the pretentious title "Empowering AI in Digital Public Services in Albania", Prime Minister Edi Rama seems to have once again chosen the diplomatic stage to demonstrate his arrogance, disguised under weak humor and unnecessary irony.

"We are the only country in the world that thanks ambassadors," says the Prime Minister, forgetting that gratitude is an ethical minimum, a simple obligation that we owe to everyone, and even more so to those who are helping Albania on its path to development.

Instead of being grateful for international aid, Rama preferred to openly mock France, labeling it a "poor country," stating that the French "give us the mind, but we will have to find the money ourselves." A clear attempt to be "interesting," but which in reality only exposed stale cynicism and a serious lack of respect and gratitude towards partners.

Rama seems to have confused dignity with arrogance, believing that national pride is demonstrated through arrogance and contempt for those who support Albania on its path to European integration. Raising his head like a 'capo' in the international arena, he seems to forget that Albania continues to be a country that needs the help, cooperation and solidarity of the international community.

The prime minister's behavior is not at all befitting a leader who aims to build a positive international image. On the contrary, he seems to be turning into a caricature of himself, causing a diplomatic embarrassment and thus losing the respect of allies and partners.

At a time when Albania needs to strengthen its diplomatic relations, Rama chooses to behave like a provincial "kaposh", considering arrogance as a virtue and irony and cynicism as wisdom. But diplomatic history has repeatedly proven that respect and modesty are the strongest attributes of true leaders.

Perhaps the time has come for Rama to understand that his diplomatic protagonism should not be built on irony and arrogance, but on the responsibility and seriousness appropriate for a country aiming for European integration./ Pamphlet
