"Only with Edin!": A clear message of blackmail to Europe and the US, making it clear that it will not tolerate any other scenario without him in power...
The Socialist Party's official slogan for the May 11 elections is perhaps the most serious political anomaly Albania has seen in these 34 years.
This slogan is the purest manifestation of political selfishness and narcissism, where the personality of the leader completely dominates the political force itself. In this case, the Socialist Party has been reduced to a mechanism that exists only to realize the personal dream of the prime minister for a fourth term.
“Albania in the EU, in 2030, only with EDIN and PS.” In this slogan, Rama's name, written in capital letters, takes center stage, not for aesthetic reasons, but because of his personal obsession with absolute power and media protagonism.
In fact, this slogan is not primarily aimed at Albanian voters. It was masterfully crafted by Rama as a clear and provocative message addressed to European and international chancelleries.
The message that emerges from this formulation is direct: “Without Edi Rama there is no integration, no progress towards the EU.” Rama openly tells the West that only he can ensure Albania's entry into the European Union.
But is this just a megalomaniacal whim of Rama or a well-studied political maneuver? All indications suggest that we are not dealing with simple narcissism. There is something else, darker and more complex in this strategy.
For some time now, there has been a belief in diplomatic circles in Tirana that Rama has been in power for too long, and that the country needs another governing alternative. This alternative, according to diplomatic sources, could be a broad pro-European coalition, which would guarantee the continuity of justice reforms and European integration.
The possibility of forming a technical cabinet with experts and academics that would have the broad support of political and international forces is not ruled out.
Informed of these movements, Edi Rama began to act by factoring Sali Berisha again and holding the opposition hostage through control over the judiciary and key institutions. His plan also extends to striking at SPAK and rival political figures in the SP.
The arrest of Erion Veliaj, which began with the famous denunciation of Nesti Angoni, is part of Rama's scenario to maintain absolute control over the SP and prevent any attempt to replace him.
The inclusion of the phrase “Only with EDIN” in the campaign slogan is no coincidence. This is a clear message of blackmail directed at Europe and the US, making it clear that it will not tolerate any other scenario without him in power.
In a direct way, Rama is showing the international community that he will resist until the end, putting European integration as a personal hostage. Therefore, he repeats threateningly that "there is no other plan than plan A."
But is Rama really as strong as he claims? Although he has financial and political support from Erdogan and the Gulf countries, he is still vulnerable. Realizing this weakness, Rama is secretly negotiating with Greece, offering political, economic and cultural concessions, to secure tacit support from Athens.
In this complicated geopolitical context, Rama's election slogan is not simply political propaganda, but an act of open and cynical blackmail against Europe and the West./ Pamphlet
