Mr. Minister! What more needs to happen in this country for the Director General of Police to be dismissed?
If you want to look for the successes of the Albanian police in recent months, you only need to look at the sleepy face of the Director General. The Director seems to have turned his office into a waiting room where time passes, while criminals freely continue their nocturnal walks.
Albania is sliding deeper and deeper into a spiral of violence, and criminal gangs are not only "eating their own heads," as the Prime Minister preferred to say, but are also taking the lives of innocent people. This was tragically demonstrated last night, when the criminals' mistake in identifying their target caused the serious injury of four people, including two minor children.
Yesterday's events are not at all unexpected, as the police have all these people on file for conflicts and revenge among themselves. In Albania, there is no real strategy for the fight against crime, while people are killed in broad daylight as if in a country at war. What more needs to happen in this country for the Director General of Police to resign? Recent criminal events, from assassinations in broad daylight to mafia raids, clearly show that blue uniforms have become festive attire, only to be displayed in parades and ceremonies. Our director, with an admirable indifference, resembles a referee who observes the game of gangs, perhaps even placing a symbolic bet on the result.
Surprisingly, crime is flourishing precisely where our Director is most "vigilant." How could it be otherwise, when the head of public safety, rather than pursuing criminals, prefers to keep them company, be part of their "healthy" friendships, and enjoy the "stability" that criminal gangs provide?
In fact, this director's only success seems to be his ability to stay in office without doing anything at all. An unusual feat in Albanian public administration, where even those who do something are usually quickly dismissed.
Perhaps the Director needs to be reminded of some basic facts: a blue uniform is not a sleepsuit, the director's office is not a hotel, and his job is not to count the hours that pass, but the gangs that are eliminated. Otherwise, let him openly join the team of his criminal friends. At least this way, he will be honest to the end! / Pamphlet
