Pope Leo XIV's political message, the Vatican's irony against Donald

The first American pope is a progressive who openly challenges the sovereign doctrine of Trump and American conservatives...

Donald Trump was the first world leader to react to the election of Pope Leo XIV, the first American Pope in the history of the Vatican. Of course, his reaction came all at once, as is usually the case with the President, especially at a time when almost none of his political objectives at home or abroad have been achieved. Of course, no one in the White House would let this historic opportunity slip away without using it politically.

But it seems that Trump has been hasty, as the message that came from the Sistine Chapel was not at all in line with the conservative and sovereignist ideology of the American President. On the contrary, the election of Pope Leo XIV seems like a symbolic slap in the face of the worldview that Trump and his conservatives represent.

The new Pope, Robert Francis Prevost, is in every respect the opposite of Trump and the American conservative lobby. He comes from a family of immigrants, something that undoubtedly 'must have pleased the President', known for his immense 'love' for immigrants! Deeply formed in the European tradition and quite different from the typical American model of a Catholic who goes to Church only for Easter or Christmas, Prevost is the figure of a religious leader much closer to the real problems of the communities.

In a perfect irony of history, Pope Leo XIV delivered his first speech not only carefully prepared, but also in the red uniform of a cardinal, a clear doctrinal and political symbolism, making the "gift" least desired by American conservatives.

The first messages of Pope Leo XIV left no room for interpretation: "The Reborn Christ loves us all without distinction." This statement is clearly against conservative efforts to compile lists of "good and bad." Earlier, Prevost publicly clashed with the ideological icon of the American right, Vice President JD Vance, humorously reminding him that Jesus had never given instructions to make lists of human love preferences.

Another ironic message that may have left Trump scratching his head in confusion was the call for a peace "without weapons and without threats of war," a completely foreign concept to a President who is known for his "successful" negotiations that usually begin with the threat of the other party's disappearance.

In the end, the election of an American pope is not at all a victory for Trump or his conservatives. On the contrary, it seems as if the Vatican carefully decided to select a religious leader who is far from what American conservatives dreamed of. And the greatest irony: now at the head of the Universal Catholic Church is a progressive, anti-sovereign Pope and, likely, a strong new obstacle to the political plans of conservatives in the US and elsewhere. / Pamphlet
