The 'Golden Umbrella' of the Balkans: From Milo and Vučić to Berisha and Rama, the relics that Europe has not yet put in museums...
In the Balkans, power is not taken and left after a few years; it is taken as private property, as a family business, and held on to by the teeth until either the road overturns or the "golden umbrella" of Brussels saves you.
In Montenegro, the “zlatni kišobran” (Golden Umbrella) saved Milo Đukanović from a legal shower that would have shaken off all his declared and hidden assets.
In Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić is moving towards the same destination, waving the flag of nationalism and squeezing every natural, political, and human resource that can guarantee his survival.
What about Albania?
Do we have such relics?
More than one.
We have Sali Berisha, who, despite the weight of the American "non grata", still behaves like the sole owner of the right, while claiming to be the victim of a global conspiracy.
On the other hand, we have Edi Rama who has turned power into a propaganda theater with his own scenography, while opening the door to foreigners for strategic businesses just like his Balkan colleagues.
The similarities are frightening:
· Everyone has a rich vocabulary for "enemies of the nation", but also an even richer portfolio for clientelistic tenders.
· Everyone talks about "historic reforms" while keeping the system that guarantees their survival unchanged.
· Everyone sees protesters as an obstacle, not as the voice of the sovereign.
· And, most importantly, everyone is ready to make any deal with the West as long as it guarantees them inviolability – in politics and in wealth.
The EU knows this. So it keeps them in the game until they no longer need it, then offers them the "golden tent" and shows them the back door, but carefully, so as not to cause unrest that would disrupt investments, lithium, ports, and energy corridors.
In the end, the citizens of the Balkans are left in the rain. The golden umbrellas are not for them, they are only for those who have turned the state into a private company. While we, soaked to the core by corruption and propaganda, continue to look from the sky, hoping that a drop of rain will wash away the scum of the years./ Pamphlet
