Shock in Vjosa: German activist publishes video of oil pollution, a snake is found dead
In a country where everything is a facade, it was only a matter of time before even the first National Park of a wild river in Europe was revealed to be a spectacular fraud.
Vjosa, this natural monument protected with speeches, flags, and tourist spots, is transforming before our eyes into a black channel, where the government pours its promises and oil without accountability.
A video released by German activist Ulrich Eichelmann, showing a dead snake floating in a heavily polluted river, is more shocking than any government report. No experts are needed: just look at the lifeless body of a creature that was once a living part of this river. There lies the moral compass of a government that no longer has any shame or limits to its hypocrisy.
We are talking about the same government that organized concerts, gave speeches in the name of nature, and signed international agreements to preserve the Vjosa River. The same government that turns a blind eye to environmental crimes taking place on the ground.
Edi Rama, who increasingly behaves like a social media influencer, remains silent as the governor of a republic of concrete and concrete workers, while the Vjosa River drowns in oil.
National Park? By what standard? When a wild river is systematically polluted and no one is arrested, resigns, or reacts, we are dealing with a parody of environmental protection. And this parody is personally signed by the Prime Minister, who for years has been using Vjosa as a toy for his speeches in front of tourists, while behind the scenes the same oligarchs, clients, and bandits do whatever they want with nature.
This is the beautiful Albania that is sold at international fairs, with the Vjosa in the background and dollars in the builders' bank accounts. An Albania where rivers are protected on Instagram, but not in reality. Where ecology is marketing, not politics.
Instead of taking urgent measures, launching investigations, bringing polluters to justice, the Prime Minister of this country is more busy designing new chairs in his office. Because in Albania, rivers, animals, people can die, but not propaganda. Propaganda is always fresh, green, clean. Unlike Vjosa.
And if a dead snake is the metaphor of this time, then history will write: this country also killed the rivers./ Pamphlet
