A bombshell theater is being played out in the Middle East, where Trump announces ceasefires like in a 'reality show', Iran accepts defeat without saying it, and Israel refuses to stop the cameras. This is not diplomacy: it is a farce with fatal consequences...
Even war has choreography. Sometimes, in fact, it is more refined than any diplomatic peace. This was clearly seen when Iran, after the American bombing of nuclear bunkers, notified Qatar in advance, and through it the United States, that the Al Udeid air base in Doha would be “targeted.” Target, not objective. Trigger, not intention. Because this was neither revenge nor military response. It was simply a message with controlled explosives.
Tehran does not seek a direct confrontation with Washington. It knows well who is on the international stage and who keeps the lights on. But the Iranian regime, even when it loses, will not be silent. It will launch a missile, just to say “we are still here.” And in this bloody farce with actors imitating leaders, Donald Trump enters as the self-proclaimed director of the end of the war.
His declaration of an "end of the conflict" was more like an electoral trailer than a state decision. It took allies, the enemy, and even the American military itself by surprise. Because for Trump, every strike is a spectacle and every ceasefire a stage to climb the polls.
He sells himself as the strongman who ended a war, when in fact it stopped itself, for fear that it might get out of control. And as always, the case of 2019 helps reinforce his personal myth: then he stopped an attack on Iran to avoid killing people; now, he stops the war to avoid 'killing' the next poll. Simple as that. On the other hand, Israel disagrees. Netanyahu does not accept that a 'showman' from Florida will decide the fate of Tehran. So he has increased the bombing, expanded the targets and refreshed the old goal: either the total destruction of the nuclear program, or regime change.
At the end of the day, it's all a game of power, who gets the final blow, who decides when a war starts and stops. And for now, that role has been taken by Donald Trump. Probably temporarily, but with long-term consequences. And that's not good news for anyone who's serious about peace. Because when war is staged, then the bloodshed is no longer a tragedy, it's just stagecraft. And the only ones who aren't part of the show are the people who die off-camera./ Pamphlet
