The common European currency has shown a downward trend throughout this week in the domestic foreign exchange market, after the slight increase it recorded last week. According to the official exchange rate of the Bank of Albania, 1 Euro was exchanged for 106.44 Lek, from 107.6 Lek that the exchange rate closed on Friday a week ago, when the common currency was temporarily strengthened due to the interventions of the Bank of Albania, which bought about 15 million Euro currency in order to supplement its foreign exchange reserve.
At the currency exchange points this Saturday as well, the European currency suffered another slight drop, 1 Euro is sold at 105.6 while it is bought at 106.6. Unlike the Euro, the Dollar is overvalued in the domestic market. 1 Dollar was exchanged for 98.15 Lek, or 0.35 Lek more than 1 day ago.
Economic experts say that the main factor for the weak Euro is related to the high supply of the currency and the weak demand for it. The offer has increased with the increase in the country's tourist activity, but the informal currency that circulates in our country continues to have a high impact.
With the effects of the season expected to intensify further in the coming weeks, culminating in post-mid-July and the first days of August, the Euro is expected to continue its weakening trend.
