The year 2022 marked the highest level of inflation since 1998, as prices rose sharply due to the consequences of the pandemic on the supply chain and less to Russia's attack on Ukraine.
Inflation peaked in October, at 8.3%, while the average reached 6.7%, from 2% the previous year.
food prices increased by 14% on average, fuel by 16.6%, coffee and restaurant prices by 5.2%.
The data of INSTAT, which has published the family budget survey for 2022, shows that in this environment with high inflation, Albanian families have managed to reduce the weight of the budget for food and spend more in cafes and restaurants.
The "Food and non-alcoholic beverages" group took 39.7% of the family budget, with a decrease of 1.6 percentage points compared to the previous year. In contrast, the weight of expenses for bars, hotels and restaurants has increased, from 5.5% to 7.3%, marking the biggest increase in expenses compared to all other groups.
According to INSTAT, in 2022, the average monthly consumption expenses for a Family Economic Unit, consisting on average of 3.7 people, are estimated at 88,367 ALL, which are 4.5% higher than INSTAT reported in 2021. The total expenditure on consumption is about ALL 67 billion per month for 758,973 PSUs.
In 2022, the group "Restaurants and hotels" has resulted in the highest increase in average monthly consumption expenses, with 37.5%, compared to 2021, followed by the groups: "Transport" with an increase of 15.7% and "Alcoholic beverages and tobacco" with an increase of 14.0%. While the "Health" group has resulted in a decrease in the average monthly expenses for consumption, by 17.2%.
According to the structure of average monthly expenses for consumption, the main groups are:
The "Food and non-alcoholic beverages" group, with an average monthly expenditure of ALL 35,083, which accounts for 39.7% of the family budget. The subgroups that account for the largest share of food expenditure are: "meat and by-products" with 18.9%, "bread and cereals" with 16.9%, followed by "milk and its by-products and eggs" with 12.9% .
The group of expenses for the apartment, with expenses for electricity, water, fuel, paid rent and small repairs, with an average monthly value of expenses of 8,640 ALL, constitutes 9.8% of the total family budget.
The "Restaurants and hotels" group, with an average monthly expenditure of ALL 6,448, occupies 7.3% of the total budget.
Sipas INSTAT, Rritja prej 37,5% e shpenzimeve për grupin “Restorante dhe hotele” në vitin 2022 ka ardhur si rezultat i rritjes më të madhe të shpenzimeve për nëngrupet: “shërbime akomodimi në hotele/komplekse hotelesh Brenda dhe jashtë vendit”, “qëndrime për një natë në hotele, komplekse hotelesh, fshatra turistike, kampingje jashtë vendit” si dhe “shpenzime ushqimi, pije dhe meze në menca (punëtorësh, studentë, etj)”. Rritje e cila është shoqëruar me rritjen e peshës së këtij grupi në strukturën e shpenzimeve mesatare mujore për konsum të NjEF.
Shpenzimet në grupin “Transport” kanë shënuar rritje prej 15,7%, krahasuar me vitin 2021, rritje e cila ka ardhur si rezultat i rritjes së shpenzimeve për nëngrupet: “karburante”, ndjekur nga: “shpenzime për autobuz/mikrobuz shkolle” si dhe “shpenzime për bileta ditore, mujore ose sezonale për transportin lokal”. Peshën më të madhe brenda këtij grupi e përbëjnë “shpenzimet për karburante”, mbi 50%.
Shpenzimet në grupin “Pije alkoolike dhe duhan” kanë shënuar një rritje prej 14,0%, krahasuar me vitin e kaluar, rritje e cila ka ardhur si rezultat i rritjes së shpenzimeve për nëngrupin “duhan” me (16,1%)”, ku dhe brenda grupit “duhani” zë një peshë prej 64,2%.
Tirana kryeson për konsumin mesatar
Në vitin 2022, qarku i Tiranës paraqet shpenzimet mesatare më të larta mujore për konsum. Një NjEF në qarkun e Tiranës shpenzon për konsum mesatarisht 104.426 lekë në muaj. Qarqet që paraqesin shpenzimet mesatare më të larta për konsum, pas qarkut të Tiranës, janë Korça me 85.398 lekë dhe Durrësi me 83.473 lekë në muaj për NjEF. Qarqet me nivel më të ulët të shpenzimeve mesatare mujore për konsum janë qarku i Dibrës me 72.724 dhe i Kukësit me 73.099 lekë në muaj për NjEF.
Shpenzimet sipas strukturës së familjes
Niveli dhe struktura e shpenzimeve për konsum ndryshojnë në varësi të madhësisë dhe përbërjes së NjEF që ndikojnë në mënyrën e shpërndarjes së buxhetit të disponueshëm.
In 2022, in the PEs consisting of two adults without children, the group "Food and non-alcoholic beverages" occupies the largest share of 43.4%, compared to other types.
