Nisma Thurje today asked the Competition Authority to start investigations into the price of oil and gas in the retail market, as it is suspected that some changes in fuel prices have not been reflected in the local market and that there may be some collusive agreements between the retail outlets. fuels.
In the letter addressed to the Competition Authority, it is emphasized that despite the decrease in the price of fuel in international markets and the drop in the exchange rate of the US dollar, there has been no change in the price of fuel in the domestic market.
"According to the information we have, there has been a significant change in fuel prices on international exchanges, which have not been reflected in the domestic market. At the same time, the exchange rate of the American dollar has suffered a decrease of about 5%, but even this has not had any visible effect on fuel prices in Albania, which have remained at the levels of the first month", the letter states. sent to the Competition Authority.
While in the denunciation it is emphasized that the price of oil remains very high at all points of sale at the same time, Nisma Thurje writes that there are reasonable doubts that these operators have an agreement not to change the prices.
"This phenomenon, where the price of oil remains very high simultaneously at all retail outlets, creates reasonable doubts that there may be an agreement between operators in the market to fix oil and gas prices, which contradicts the Law on the Protection of Competition, in addition to the fact that they constitute a criminal offense", it is further argued.
Nisma Thurje has stated that it will be referred to the prosecution as such a practice constitutes a criminal offense that is prohibited by law.
