During this week, we have seen Sali Berisha wearing a hat, like never before in the campaigns. Edi Rama has worn the hat not only in electoral campaigns, but also in ordinary meetings. We have also heard a lot of stale fabrications like "this one is campaigning like Trump, this one is behaving like Trump, or this one will win like Trump".
These and many such conclusions only shift the focus of the campaign, devaluing it. In Albania, politicians cannot copy either Trump or Sarkozy or anyone else. They are Balkan, as much as they are Albanian. They are traditional, as much as they are incapable of copying anyone else, as they would not succeed in politics. Countries, nations, terrains, peoples and traditions should not be confused.
There is no reason for Sali Berisha to "resemble Trump", nor for Edi Rama to approach his campaign as a "Trumpist campaign". Filling the pages of newspapers and portals with such nonsense means having a lack of education. An Albanian never becomes an American, nor a German, nor a Frenchman. He remains an autochthonous Albanian, in behavior, prudence, intelligence, tolerance, conflict and equally original when doing politics and when taking and leaving power. The Albanian politician, here and across the border (Kosovo and Macedonia), remains ambitious to the extreme towards position, money and does not easily leave power.
The Albanian politician knows them, accepts them, but does not apply the rules of the game in politics. Trump's return to the White House came after the long ordeal of legal proceedings against him. And what was striking was his permanent willingness not to hide, but to face justice. The opposite happens with us. They hide, get "medical" reports, fabricate scenarios and declare lies, gather supporters at the doors of prosecutors' offices, only to cause incidents and obstruct justice. No one in Albania can copy Trump. No one imitates him, and no one is like him. Politics is not a football match, although politics remains a "difficult sport."
You cannot enter politics as a copycat, nor can you walk like one. You can worship a foreign politician "X", but you cannot copy him, as this would very quickly affect your disadvantage. Sali Berisha has decided at the age of 81 to copy the "Trump model", without knowing that this will bring him the most surprising defeat in his 35 years of politics.
A proverb says "villages and fairies". Albania is not the USA. We are too small in everything, to copy the superpower of the world. So much so that we are sometimes so ignorant, that we think we are the "epicenter of the world".
Therefore, in politics you can only make a mistake once, and with very serious consequences, even though you lie to yourself that "I fell, but I can get back up again."
