Precisely the lack of vote has brought about a phenomenon that in these 34 years has eroded politics. Without any element of transparency, without being voted by the representative forums of Reestablishment, some people there are negotiating with SP representatives for a win-win agreement for both parties.
What happened was called unimaginable until a few months ago. Gazmend Bardhi and Agron Gjekmarkaj, the two biggest political opponents and enemies of Sali Berisha, since last Tuesday are his vice-presidents in the Reestablishment group. A sudden statutory change with an accelerated procedure catapulted them to the second most important position in the party that has the most members but does not own the seal. In fact, not only in the unofficial DP, but also more widely, this "new entry" has brought quite a bit of dissatisfaction for the way they became part of the leadership dome of this grouping. First, due to the fact that this is not a union of hearts, but a mechanical union of numbers and has no morals and does not create spirit. And the second, even more important, the two political figures were not voted in the forums and in the membership of this group. Both did not do the minimum in this setback, asking for a public apology to the DP members. Those few unpleasant words in Blendi Fevzi's "Opinion" were said more after the insistence of the journalist than out of a personal obligation. But is this the great union that the Democrats wanted and expected, as well as the entire public opinion, or are we dealing with a bargain?
The truth is that there are no members of the DP who do not understand that this union is very strained and just numbers and does not bring anything more. It's just two individuals surrendering to a reality that Reestablishment dominates the party and they turned around and that's it. Of course, we do not question the personal values of Gazmend Bardhi and Agron Gjekmarkaj in their professions. The second is even one of the most prominent intellectuals in the country in the field of letters and teaching. But the art of professional work is one thing and the art of politics is another. For analogy, let's go back to the political history of Albania in the 20s. With a Harvard degree in his pocket and not only, Fan Noli and Faik Konica were really much more educated, but Ahmet Zogu, even without a degree, won every political battle with them so much that at one point the "elders" of Boston, Noli and Konica, admitted that the mountaineer from Mati had defeated the two disciples of Albanian culture in every direction. Of course, Gazmend Bardhi and Agron Gjekmarkaj are neither Noli nor Konica, but we make this comparison because their professional level is higher than the average level of this party.
THE CONTRIBUTION OF WHITE AND GJEKMARKAJ TO PD
Both brought to the party by Lulzim Basha, both were among his most valued when he was chairman. Secretary General of the party, and even a minister in the government of Edi Rama in that disgraceful coalition, Gazmend Bardhi has been the number two of this party and bears all the sins, mistakes and guilt that Lulzim Basha is accused of for the failures of the DP. Although not at Bardh's level, Agron Gjekmarkaj has also been an important part of the party. He managed to become the deputy speaker of the Assembly with the blessing of Lulzim Basha and for at least the last two years, he bears all the sins, mistakes and guilt that accuse Lulzim Basha of his decisions and attitudes. Even their history in the last parliamentary elections of April 25, 2021 is not to be praised. Thus, Gazmend Bardhi received 3999 votes in Elbasan.
It was first on the list and came fifth in the ranking for the number of votes received. In this district, PD got 6 deputies and if it was an open list, it really risked getting the mandate. While Agron Gjekmarkaj in Lezhë was second in Basha's list and received 4067 votes in those elections. He came third in terms of the number of votes out of 4 MPs that DP received in this district. But the most important part in this story is that both have not been tested by the Democratic vote in the structures of this party for years. Let's think for a moment about whether they would be voted to be members of the presidency or not. Under their breath, the Reestablishment group expressed that there were few chances of them winning.
So even though they are favored by the president at the top of the lists and favored by the media and by the posts in the DP, it seems that they do not enjoy the support of the Democrats, but even more widely. If it was an open list and an even race, they would hardly get so many votes. But the vision they had for the Democratic Party seems even more serious. In the great division of the DP, today I don't know how they both feel, but their spectacular statements are part of the golden archive of the media. Agron Gjekmarkaj declared on September 30, 2021:
"If Berisha's line wins, I will leave the Democratic Party." Yes, Gjekmarkaj wrote a status on Facebook on May 4, 2022:
"If it was the congress of the democrats, I would have felt that for over 10 years I have been publicly championing their interests, but the congress of the Berisha family, which unfortunately and to my pain, were both overthrown while running towards power . Democrats are not sheep and they are not looking for a shepherd. They have the party in crisis because someone will behave with them like a shepherd who does whatever he wants with his sheep".
But even more spectacular in his attitudes was the number two of the party that today with what he expressed has remained like a hook that pulls him whenever and wherever. On October 3, 2023, Gazmend Bardhi wrote on Twitter:
“Babi i Zenit, njeriut të vetëm përgjegjës për 26 të vrarë në Gërdec, duhet të gjejë kohë të paktën ti shkojë për ngushëllim baxhanakut të tij. Koha ku çdo punë e emërim kalonte nga zyra e Zenit ka mbaruar me vendim të DASH në 19 Maj 2021. Sa më parë ta kuptosh aq më mirë për ty”!
PIKËPYTJET E MËDHA TË KËTIJ BASHKIMI
Pasi janë rehatuar në kolltuqet e detyrës së nënkryetarit në selinë e ish-SHQUP, vijnë edhe andrrallat. Për të dy, aktualisht shtrohen tre pyetje të mëdha që lidhen me qëndrimet që ka mbajtur Rithemelimi, por edhe ata vetë. E para: Si do të jetë raporti i Rithemelimit me SHBA-në, kur dihet që Berisha ka marrëdhënie të ndera dhe është i shpallur non grata prej tyre dhe a do të vijojnë ta cilësojnë Yuri Kim se ka qenë guvernatore e Shqipërisë. E dyta: A do ta cilësojë SPAK një bandë të armatosur dhe drejtuesin e tij, Altin Dumanin, nën kontrollin e kësaj bande? E treta: A do të vijojë revolucioni dhe mosbindja civile për përmbysjen e qeverisë? Këto pyetje përvëluese përbëjnë bazën e moralit të asaj që ata e quajnë bashkimi i madh, por që në fakt rezulton bashkim i vockël. Nuk është gabim të ndërrosh mendje dhe ide sepse siç thoshte Winston Churchill vetëm një politikan budalla nuk e bën këtë. Por mënyra se si e bën kërkon jo vetëm guxim, por edhe moral nëpërmjet një pendese të ndjerë që njerëzit ta kuptojnë vërtetë këtë. Dhe më shumë se kaq, në politikë gjithçka funksionon nëpërmjet institucionit të votës. Si mund ta bëjnë këtë Gjekmarkaj dhe Bardhi të cilët deri tani nuk janë të votuar?
BASHA ME GISHT NË GOJË
E vetmja e mirë e këtij bashkimi është largimi nga Lulzim Basha, si pjesë e asaj pakice të çuditshme njerëzish. Fakti i braktisjes më të madhe është i diplomatëve amerikanë. Kulmi i saj ishte se sekretari i Shtetit Antony Blinken nuk e takoi atë gjatë vizitës së tij në Tiranë dhe kjo ishte shprehje e hapur e mungesës së besimit ndaj këtij politikani. Ndërkaq me largimin nga grupi i tij i Gjekmarkaj dhe Bardhit ka një vlerë që së paku shumica e kanë kuptuar që Basha i përket të shkuarës dhe kaq. Por edhe këtu ka një problem që ata vetë nuk e sjellin fare në memorie. Është ende e freskët ajo që Gjekmarkaj tha në Laç pas sulmit të 8 janarit 2022: Lulzim Basha është trim dhe jam unë dëshmitari. Po sot çfarë do të thotë? Është e vërtetë që Lulzim Basha është ai që është. Ai nuk arriti kurrë të bëhet lider pavarësisht se ishte kryetar i partisë më të madhe në opozitë. Por çfarë ndodhi me Gjekmarkajn që e mbështeti kur nuk duhet ta mbështeste. Është humor i zi mënyra se si po bën politikë edhe në këtë situatë. Marrim vetëm një aspekt. Premtoi se në muajin mars PD-ja që ai drejton do të shpallte listën e kandidatëve për deputetë për zgjedhjet e vitit 2025, ndërkohë që aktualisht nuk kanë përfunduar ende mbledhjet në degët e kësaj partie në të cilat bëhen propozimet. Ndoshta kjo lista duhet t’i ketë ngatërruar keq punët.
BASHKIMI I ÇUDITSHËM QË PO SJELL NEGOCIATA TË ÇUDITSHME ME PS

Electoral reform and parliamentary commissions are already the basis of this agreement and there is nothing wrong with that. The evil is the way it is being carried out. First, without a mandate from the party's forums and secondly, contrary to public statements such as "There is no cooperation with Rama, the fiercest enemy of the Albanians since 1990". And in return, the SP will win the termination of the situation with excesses in the assembly and the start of the normal work of plenary sessions and commissions. It seems that the mediators in these negotiations are Bardhi and Gjekmarkaj, who until yesterday had much more moderate positions. But is this a victory for the Restoration? It is possible, but extreme statements and attitudes come to mind again. Where did the revolution and civil disobedience they promised the democrats go? It seems that this time too it will pass with the excuse "it was just a job". This is enough to understand that this is the big reason why this opposition does not win against Edi Rama. Because everything is a union of numbers and not principles and hearts.
