The EU is not falling apart, but we risk being left out again
Rama-Trump

The US-EU alliance may undergo modifications, but it is unlikely to break down.

Following President Trump's initiative to establish the Peace Board, much has been said and written about the collapse of the post-World War II World Order and its replacement with a New Order.

At the same time, the end of the liberal-democratic era has been announced and another era has been announced about which only one thing is known: that it will not be democratic!

Nothing new. We have the sport of our school of thought of reducing the world to the size of the country and enlarging the country to the size of the world. Don't let anyone find out!

The warning of the New World Order is written in the lines and between the lines of the Peace Board's charter. What is it, what is its name? A unilateral world, a kind of US (United States of the World) under the leadership of Washington? A utopia with no sign of possibility on the horizon.

A multipolar world of great powers with the US at the forefront in terms of economic and military power? Has it existed for decades?

What remains is the meaning of an autocratic imperial USA of the Putinist model that treats allied countries and those in its sphere of influence as its vassals. Which means the collapse of the EU, which means the automatic extinction of the European dream of candidate countries like Albania.

In fact, this remains the "reading" of Trump's initiative in several media outlets inside and outside the country. A reading that has come in handy for Mr. Rama in a period of long and double frustration. From the lack of personal contacts with President Trump's administration throughout the year on the one hand. From the intensive investigations of SPAK in the antechambers of his power on the other.

He was suffering from the American boycott as an enigma. The recent investigations by SPAK as a rip-off and filler that were pushing him to betray the image of the knight of the new justice.

Trump's nominal invitation to join the Peace Board came as a gift from heaven, which Mr. Rama experienced as a liberation. As if he had found something real in the Berisheist phantasmagoria with "Ramaduro" for internal consumption.

Apparently he saw the invitation as a stone that kills two birds with one stone: both isolation from the US and the cost of hindering justice. The "new world order" within and between the lines of the invitation magically solved his great dilemma of recent months about what he would lose in terms of the country's integration into the EU. Zero loss. Because the EU will collapse! There is no place for him in the "new world order".

Really? Let's try to dot some "i's" as we imagine.

Albania could not help but be invited by Trump to the Peace Board.

Albania could not help but immediately accept the invitation, despite the rejection to date of most European countries.
European countries understand the grateful devotion of Albania and Kosovo to a country that made them states at crucial periods in their history.

If the question were posed to choose, Albania would choose the US as its security guarantor. But it is unlikely to be faced with the alternative of either the US or the EU.

Because there will be no Putinist USA, no matter how authoritarian its President is. The structure of the deeply rooted democratic state does not allow it, the traditions, laws, freedoms, development, elections, term limits, courts, federalism, the culture of pluralism, diversity like in no other country in the world do not allow it. Trump must destroy America without establishing the "new order". But he cannot, he does not intend to, he does not have time even if he intends to. The rotation of power in the USA corrects mistakes, excesses, deviations. This is where their greatness lies. But the foundations are not touched.

The US-EU alliance may undergo modifications, but it is unlikely to break down.

The EU is unlikely to break up. On the contrary, in this period of friction and declared divergences with the administration of President Trump, the EU, its constituent states, are finding the self-confidence and cohesion of affirmation as a great economic power that is also becoming a military one.
In any scenario, the democratic middle powers of Europe including the United Kingdom, add Canada, add the small member states of the EU, so this whole large and developed confederation is more than a superpower.

Nothing has changed in terms of our relations with Brussels. Albania in the EU continues to be a project of the European Union. This was recently confirmed by the German Minister for Europe, Gunter Krichbaum, during his visit to Tirana last week. It is worth quoting the essence of his position on this point.

"Albania is currently at a crucial moment: the path towards the EU must be taken forward with determination, by firmly implementing in this context the next reforms, especially in the area of the rule of law and the unwavering fight against organized crime and corruption."

The bell is ringing for those who have ears. Any stop or retreat leaves us outside of Europe. Prime Minister Rama has received the message. He would make a big mistake if he becomes an obstacle to justice. He would lose the support of the majority in the country. He would lose the US and the EU, who are together in supporting SPAK and GJKKO. From the game with two or three chairs, he would end up with neither./mapo.al
