Ben Blushi: Will the Kosovo elections change Kosovo?

Everyone in Kosovo is convinced that the elections will not bring solutions.

The campaign for Kosovo's parliamentary elections, the second this year, has begun.

The elections held in February produced winners but no government.

This impasse has slowed reforms, increased unemployment, reduced investor confidence, cooled international interest, and encouraged many young people to leave.

Kosovo today has a smaller population than it did in 2008 when it declared independence.

Every country that shrinks does not live well, but a small country that shrinks lives badly.

No one knows whether these elections will produce a stable government, and no one understands why Kosovo's parties cannot find consensus to govern together.

Everyone in Kosovo is convinced that the elections will not bring solutions.

The crisis will continue.

The best thing about these elections is that the campaign will only last 10 days.

Better just 10 days of hearing promises that are not kept than 30 days.

I believe this photo I took last night in Pristina well illustrates the electoral context in Kosovo.

Two young people who have turned their backs on the parties that pretend to work while holding their chairs in their hands.

The young people are in the dark while the chairs shine because they don't do any work.

The time has come for young people, instead of leaving, to take those chairs and sit there themselves.
