I really enjoy beautiful photography, but photos without people don't excite me...
I was a member of the jury at the Tirana Photography Festival where more than 200 participants competed for several awards which were awarded yesterday afternoon.
I was glad that in addition to many Albanian photographers, foreign photographers, Turkish, Montenegrin, Italian, French, Egyptian and Moroccan, who brought photographs from the Mediterranean, also participated.
Eva Kushova, who has been organizing this Festival for eight years with great perseverance and care, asked me to select the winner of the series, so not just one photograph but several together.
Out of seven competitors in this category, I selected number 6, who in my opinion had a more versatile eye, had artistic description and balance between the people and the environment he photographed.
I really enjoy beautiful photography, but photos without people don't excite me.
A sea with waves, a moon covered by clouds, or a mountain reddened by autumn attract me but do not make me think.
Photography is the fastest way to show the world, but when it has an opinion, it communicates even better.
For this reason, I chose a series of photographs taken on a beach that I later learned was located in Ulcinj.
The photographer of these photos was not Albanian but Montenegrin, and he was declared the winner along with many Albanians in other categories as well as Turks and even Italians.
I really hope that the Tirana Photography Festival will continue as long as possible, becoming a prestigious international event.
