Although it seems hopelessly complicated, the situation in DP is terribly clear and simple. Leaving behind the details that hide the essence, the essence of what is happening in DP can be explained as the story of a cycle, where its first human link refuses to be anything but the last link.
After losing the elections of the 21st, despite the logic and conviction of the democrats, Lulzim Basha was re-elected party chairman only thanks to Berisha's blessing. Traumatized by the defeat, everyone was against it, but no one dared to cast the first stone. The few voices against him were insufficient to constitute a majority, absent a signal from the Doctor. Beyond what was happening behind the scenes, Berisha himself in the Assembly who was going to vote, identified Basha with a hug as his re-elected. The others were left to simply carry out the Doctor's will. Even filling the boxes with votes for Basha 3, as one of the important deputies of the DP would later confess.
Only two months later, in September 2021, Basha expelled Berisha from the parliamentary group and it was clearly seen that father and son faced each other. And their followers faced each other, while in the middle, as a dividing line, in the new Rubicon of the Democrats, the stain of Non Grata and the attitude towards the USA was placed.
Berisha's epic comeback, more the fruit of Basha's weakness than his strength, created a new reality in the opposition. The inspiration of the anti-Basha people came from several streams; from the grateful idealists to the new Soviets, lovers of the old status quo. Dissatisfied with Basha's series of defeats, hostages of idolization as a survival style, a part of them identified Berisha as the only tool and mechanism to remove Basha from the party.
Even with the generally one-way flow of deputies from one side to the other of the two opposing parties and others who were neither with the old innkeeper nor with the new tenant, with the January 8th of shame in the middle, the river and mud of accusations mutual, the two electoral confrontations in the local elections, after two years of quarrels, the PD has already taken shape. So, there is a majority of MPs lined up behind Berisha and a minority that still calls Basha the leader of the official DP. Because of the stamp wandering the courts.
The voteless co-optation of former opponents in PD is the last act of this party comedy and drama for Albanian society. A farce to which no one says the title, but knows the epilogue. All together, convinced that with Berisha at the helm they are once again lost in the confrontation with Rama, they are only waiting for the day of the elections. After losing the round, they think that Berisha will leave automatically. Because this is how the party charter is "sworn" to you. But by then, Berisha will have made him a deputy again. And as MPs of the new opposition, they will have to wait and hope that even though it happened four times, there won't be a fifth term for Rama.
It's that simple. It is not about principles, nor about solutions, nor about selection. And of course not for union based on beliefs, but for sewing parts based on problems. What separated them is still inside. Both the attitude towards the USA, and the relationship with the new justice system, are the two sides of the Rubicon where everyone sees the future, refusing to throw off the burden of the past. Because everyone knows, Berisha was the only one who could "kill" a serial loser like Basha in the past, and the upcoming elections are the only means to kill Berisha's ambition to be the first and last man at the door. DP in the future. Everyone is playing tricks on each other really, and between two parties who pretend they should, the third always wins the fourth time!
