The President of the Center for Spiritual and Cultural Heritage, Prof. Dr. Skënder Asani, held a meeting with representatives of the US Embassy in Skopje, where they discussed intercultural and interreligious dialogue, religious freedom, cultural heritage, and the strengthening of democratic values in society.
Prof. Dr. Skënder Asani, President of the Center for Spiritual and Cultural Heritage, held a working meeting today with Mr. Andrew Kovtun, political advisor, and Mr. Adrian Ismaili, political analyst at the Embassy of the United States of America in Skopje.
The meeting took place in an open, constructive and cooperative atmosphere, where a number of topics of common interest related to social, cultural and democratic developments in the country were discussed. Special attention was paid to the concept of building a preventive society, based on intercultural dialogue and strengthening mechanisms that promote stability and social cohesion.
During the discussions, the importance of preserving, studying and promoting spiritual and cultural heritage as a universal value that serves as a bridge of communication between cultures and as a basis for mutual understanding was also emphasized. In this context, the role of scientific and cultural institutions in documenting, researching and affirming historical and cultural heritage was underlined.
One of the central topics of the meeting was religious freedom and its importance in the consolidation of democratic societies. The interlocutors assessed that respect for religious rights and freedoms constitutes one of the fundamental pillars of contemporary democracies and a necessary prerequisite for maintaining harmony between different communities.
Also discussed were the challenges and opportunities related to advancing interfaith dialogue, promoting tolerance, and cultivating a culture of peace, as essential elements for strengthening public trust and developing democratic processes.
