Their whole nightmare is how they once failed to do something like 1997.
Edi Rama has easily led his opponents into the spiral of a useless debate for them, reminding them of the result of 1997.
I don't believe that he thought about it for so long that his opponents are teasing him, because maybe he just wanted to remind them of their numbers in 1997, but apparently it caused a bigger drama.
The drama is not simply about numbers, but about their impotence in the face of a popular rebellion that degenerated into violence.
I see many senior figures of the PD who have not taken 1997 out of their mouths for three days, sometimes as his victims and sometimes as the "lion" of that year.
There are even serious threats of the type that "every Albanian will be held responsible if he paves the way for this scenario".
But why did this provocation by Edi Rama upset them so much?
It's not about the result. Since 2013, DP has come close to 1997 several times. In 2019, it even exceeded it by not participating at all.
It is a matter of their powerlessness in relation to the dream they have to return to power like the socialists in 1997.
Their entire political discourse actually rests on a 97th dream. All their threats, all their behavior from the strong, all their obsessions with grabbing weapons or civil disobedience have 1997 in front of their eyes, but they should be on the side of the insurgents.
Their whole nightmare is how they once failed to do something like 1997.
And this comes from the fact that they still haven't understood that in 1997, it was not done by 40 people to take power, but by Sali Berisha who provoked the Albanian society.
It is normal then that the opponents of Sali Berisha won from that uprising, but it was not an uprising in a glass, which came from threats on the windows or from Molotov cocktails in front of the town hall. No one threatened before 1997 that such a thing would happen. It happened because of popular anger, the only energy that Berisha and PD lack.
Sali Berisha is the real firefighter of any popular anger in Albania, when people think that their every battle goes in his favor.
That's why he and the others below the window are mad at the idea that they don't have a 97 of their own and threaten saying "don't you dare do to us like 97".
The despair comes precisely because there will be no more 97 and even more because they will not be able to do it. It is anger that comes from impotence, not power.
Edi Rama has it simply for the numbers, but in fact he has awakened them to the real drama that they have for that year. The drama that people tamed with wood from power.
They have been warning for so long that they will do the same, but the inability to do it kills them more than the riots of that year. That's why they are twerking.
