Rama's earthquake in the country's municipalities; a golden chance for

Edi Rama's criticisms and dissatisfaction with the work of almost all municipalities nationwide are fantastic material for any opposition...

Edi Rama's shocking act of shaking up almost all municipalities run by the Socialist Party, 2 years after the election, seems like a perfect opportunity for the entire opposition to enter the executive political system.

Of course, the Prime Minister's move is part of his strategy, as always planned to keep the political machinery charged to achieve its objectives. It is clear that the Socialist Party has launched the local election campaign, which coincides with a key year such as 2027, when the deadline for closing negotiations with the EU is also set.

On the other hand, this situation is a golden opportunity for the opposition, of course if it is seized at the right moment and treated with the right seriousness.

Edi Rama's criticisms and dissatisfaction with the work of almost all municipalities nationwide are fantastic material for any opposition to build its narrative from here and challenge the majority with a more qualitative idea and team in the upcoming local elections.

By proposing fresh, prepared, and serious candidates, the prerogatives of a civil, yet high-level confrontation are created in the upcoming local campaign.

A level that will likely not only help the opposition, but the entire country, both for the negotiation process, for the image in general, but also in removing this heavy atmosphere of polarization and hatred in society, which at least helps a normal confrontation and a more civilized alternation.

If the political status quo continues, where as is being seen in the case of Theth, the opposition has fallen into the political trap of the majority, we will have the old avaaz again.

Where one side will come out as a defender of the law, and the other side will accuse it of violating it and demand a ban on actions in the territory.

If the opposition wants to fight for Theth, it has every opportunity to fight a serious battle to the end. By suing the government and its structures in court, while at the same time defending those citizens who contest the demolitions of buildings.

The legal route may take some time, but in the end it gives you a winning card when you need it most. Do you remember the demolition of the Zogu i Zi overpass by Sali Berisha's government in 2006?

There was all that noise, harsh statements, and protests, which were also accompanied by one victim, an SP militant. The government demolished the entire structure to replace it with a fountain.

Edi Rama, the mayor of Tirana and leader of the Albanian opposition, sued the government in the Constitutional Court, which issued a decision overturning the government's act.

That decision, although it did not reverse the overpass, hit Sali Berisha's government hard, which lost badly in the 2007 local elections.

Meanwhile, in the current situation, when all the directors, who were also part of the SP campaign machinery, are leaving, the opposition has the opportunity to launch a political offensive.

Which would have to be completely different from what it has done so far to attract attention, achieve results, and create international relevance.

Not an old scheme of boring and uniform conferences of Sali Berisha. But a reactive and open process of a transparent selection of candidates for mayor. Who in the end will move on to a real and as democratic as possible competition.

This process, which will be moved from the former headquarters of SHQUP to every municipality in the country, could create a new political galvanization, which could put the SP's electoral machine in difficulty. In fact, the opposition will have to take the EU entry card more strongly, bringing arguments why they can close the process faster.

Otherwise, if the scheme of direct connections from headquarters and irritated panelists on television continues, no one will have hope that a new alternative is coming, on the contrary, they will continue to play on fear.
