Who will vote for the new anti-corruption reform?

The majority in power does not have a very clear address to which address it should send the request for political support to the anti-corruption reform.

The proposal two days ago by Prime Minister Edi Rama for a new anti-corruption reform in the Albanian state administration was met with disbelief by the divided opposition actors and with a positive reaction from the US embassy in Tirana.

As with the Justice Reform, which went into its own bed when it received Western support, and the anti-corruption Reform has signs that it will follow the same path.

But unlike the Justice Reform when the parties were clear and the opposition united, the problem that the anti-corruption reform will face is that it will have to be supported by those who are accused of corruption.

This problem existed when the Law Reform was approved, but in the mind of every Albanian politician was the idea that once it is approved, they will have it under control.

Time showed that they could not take it under control, but turned into its victims.

Today, dozens of high-ranking socialist politicians are under accusation, while Sali Berisha and Ilir Meta are under investigation for corruption.

This has divided the opposition and is creating a resistance front against the Justice Reform.

Under these conditions, the majority in power does not have a very clear address to which address it should send the request for political support to the anti-corruption reform.

It is certain that if the USA and then the EU enter this battle, the parliament will no longer be divided into the opposition or the government, but an anti-corruption front and an anti-reform front in justice.

To put it more clearly, we will have MPs who will have to vote for the anti-corruption reform and MPs who will be wearing the "Free Sali Berisha" or "Free Ilir Meta" t-shirts and will vote against it.

If the majority in power pushes the differentiation within the opposition to that point, then there is a chance to give the country a reform, which will be a cornerstone for EU membership.

If the Justice Reform opened the doors of the EU candidate country, this reform creates the security and reliability of the administration for an EU member country.

But this parliament does not approve it. Edi Rama is clear about this story. So does the USA. None of them will reach out to Berisha or Meta to get the anti-corruption vote for two people who are being investigated for corruption.

The battle is for the new parliament after these elections.

And so that this parliament is not a hostage to those who are victims of the justice reform, it is good that the new justice does not only produce victims and leave them at our feet, but clean them from politics, not being part of the new parliament.

Until then, there is time to clarify the project of this reform and above all the opposition and the majority needed by the parliament to approve it.
