There are 3.7 million registered voters in Albania, but around 1.8 million voters actually live in the country, excluding the diaspora who voted for the first time this year.
Albania votes. When the numbers are not as they appear/reported! In every election there is talk of voter boycott, while the opposite is true.
Some media outlets are reporting a low turnout in today's elections, suggesting that voters are boycotting the process. But the facts show quite the opposite:
There are 3.7 million registered voters in Albania, but around 1.8 million voters actually live in the country, excluding the diaspora who voted for the first time this year.
Even the latest census, if we believe it, shows that 2.4 million inhabitants live here (including the segment under 18 years old).
The preliminary CEC result states that 41.37% of registered voters voted, or about 1,530,690 voters (not counting diaspora voters).
This represents about 85% of voters in the country, a percentage that rivals turnout in the region and the EU.
The numbers in a report without context lie to you. At least 85% voted! You can accuse Albanians of anything, but not that they don't vote.
