The Serbian president is not the only one with such behavior. There are other politicians in the Balkans who believe they are powerful and demonstrate their power to their subordinates: with toxic language, with psychological terror, with absurd demands, with infantile nonsense.
The President of Serbia took care, in his perhaps unintentionally funny style, of entertaining the Serbian millet from Subotica to Vladicin Han. This time he did not do it from the studios of his favorite television stations in Belgrade, but from Davos. In a post on his Instagram profile, he showed that he had tasted a Swiss specialty.
The specialty is called Raclette. The cheese is placed in a mini-fryer and placed over the fire until it begins to melt. Then, boiling hot, the cheese is poured over the potatoes. Pickled cucumbers, small onions and other greens (if desired) are placed around it.
The Serbian president apparently told some bureaucratic scoundrel to film him on his phone while he was demonstrating how to eat the famous Swiss raclette. On that occasion, he apparently forgot the cheese, which had already started to harden on the plate. He tried to pour the cheese on the potatoes, but it didn't work. Or at least it only partially worked. No problem, he said, Sinisa will eat the rest. He was referring to his finance minister. This is the fate of a servant: humiliated in front of the cameras by his rude boss.
The Serbian president is not the only one with such behavior. There are other politicians in the Balkans who believe they are powerful and demonstrate their power to their subordinates: with toxic language, with psychological terror, with absurd demands, with infantile nonsense. The demand to eat the remaining piece of cheese in Davos has, at least, a humorous tinge.
Another scene: another servant records as the Serbian president shows the room he was staying in in Klosters near Davos. The furniture, he says, is IKEA-style. Simple wood. The bed is a bit short. Because, as you know, the president is tall. Not big. Tall. On the balcony, the head of state continues his explanation for the Serbian people, while on the hotel balcony the temperature is minus five degrees. What a surprise! In the mountains and Alps the temperature is low. Here, even Davos is no different.
In Davos, the US president organized a ceremony to establish the so-called “Peace Board”. Initially, the idea was for the board to deal with the future of the devastated Gaza. In the board’s charter, Gaza is not mentioned at all. The “Peace Board” is now a Trump club, where he has elected himself with a lifetime mandate. He will be at the head of the board even after his term as president ends.
As in a TV show, Trump decides who can be a member of the board, who can't. He can also exclude members he finds unsympathetic. This is Donald Trump's personal security council. Of the 193 UN member states, only about 35 agreed to be part of the club.
Even fewer, in Hall 19, rushed to Davos to sign, including the president of Kosovo, but not the prime minister of Albania, who fled this scene to avoid misunderstandings with his friends in the EU, from whom he expects Tirana to be admitted to the EU by 2030. Who knows, the prime minister of Albania may one day appear at the White House to sign the board's document.
The Davos kitchen is huge: When Trump’s spokeswoman, Karoline Leavitt, solemnly announced that the signing of the “Peace Board” document had created an official international organization, the hall was filled with cries of “No!” As the Swiss newspaper “Tages Anzeiger” wrote: “As the signatories of the document leave the hall to the loud applause of their supporters, the visitors of the World Economic Forum keep queuing at the buffet. Hunger is greater than appetite for Trump’s show.”
The comedy has already begun. For example: Kosovo (and Albania) along with Trump did not accept Canada into the “Peace Board”. How is this possible? Here are some details from this comedy. While Europe sleeps, Donald Trump makes sure that when people on the old continent wake up, they have something to read. After returning from Davos, where he gave a series of self-aggrandizing speeches, Trump last Friday hit out at Canada, a neighboring, friendly country, the second largest economic partner of the US.
He informed the Prime Minister of Canada, Mark Carney, that the “Peace Board” and its eternal boss (!) Donald Trump have withdrawn the invitation for Canada to become part of the “Peace Board”. Trump informed about this through a short post on his online platform, Truth Social, without giving a specific reason. Interestingly, Trump spoke on behalf of the “Peace Board”, that is, on behalf of the countries that have joined his show. He said that the board is withdrawing the invitation. This is because Kosovo and Albania, as part of the board, of course without anyone asking them, do not accept Canada into the “Peace Board”.
We will experience such comedies continuously in the coming years. At least until February 2029. Then the term of membership without money in Trump's club expires. From then on, whoever wants to continue associating with the retired American president must pay 1 billion dollars for membership. Then Kosovo and Albania will discreetly withdraw and the possibility of being ridiculed by Trump on (a)social media cannot be ruled out.
Problemet fillojnë kur opinioni bombardohet paturpësisht me kopalla, rrena e propagandë.
Currently, we know almost nothing about the circumstances and conditions of Kosovo's entry into this club. What are the obligations? Was there inter-institutional and inter-party coordination? What are the benefits? Will Kosovo still be part of this club after three years when the board's inventor is demanding $1 billion as a membership fee? Should parliament be asked about this membership? Should this membership be voted on in parliament? When will it be voted on? Why did Albania skip the ceremony? If its ruler was busy wandering around the plots of Zvërnec, why wasn't the Albanian president sent to Davos? Or the Foreign Minister? Or an ambassador?
The greatest affront that can be done to citizens in Kosovo is deception and propaganda for low personal and selfish interests. Domestic politics should not be transformed into foreign politics. The patterns of lies from the past should not be repeated. Nor the ridiculous attempts to use moral compasses. Nor the coffeehouse-level analyses of the new world order that Kosovo is now building together with the new and eternal head of the "Peace Board". It is like that joke when the elephant and the mouse were crossing a bridge and the mouse said to the elephant: "Do you see how we are shaking the bridge?" / Koha
