The Rama-Meloni deal failed successfully, who will be responsible now?

The fact that politically this is a disaster (announced on several fronts, among others) is also evidenced by the billionaire cavalry that has just begun to move. Even from the reaction of the most disturbing villain of our time, Elon Musk...

The Meloni government's political operation in Albania has failed. And it failed with a lot of pain and a lot of embarrassment.

The project for the transfer of immigrants caught in international waters, to the Albanian centers of Shengjin and Gjadri is probably one of the hottest points of these two years of Melon's government.

Even and above all from a communicative and narrative point of view, the "banishment effect" in public opinion can no longer have any dark charm, and this is well understood by the leaders of the center-right, judging how and how much they are raising their voices against justice.

Even the staunchest supporters will have realized that the project is too expensive, leaving aside for a moment all the critical issues of guarantees and human rights, which are at the heart of the problem. It was built in a complex territory of legal virginity, in the hope of being able to break a small part of the laws and propose to the Italians a solution that was certainly little more than symbolic, but divisive. Which would allow the executive, increasingly caught up in the reactionary sentiment of much of the country, to propose a concrete outcome with strong police connotations so that good citizens can spend Christmas in peace. While the "dangerous" immigrants passed through the Albanian cold, while thousands of others drowned or landed on our shores.

The fact that politically this is a disaster (announced on several fronts, among others) is also evidenced by the billionaire cavalry that has just begun to move. Even from the reaction of the most disturbing villain of our time, Elon Musk.

The judges, one after the other, and to be honest, in complete uniformity in respecting the sources of European law and the Constitution that imposes community rules on national rules, are doing their job. Namely, essentially referring the issue of repatriation of immigrants to the Court of Justice of the European Union, while suspending the arrest measures in the small Italian enclave in the north of Albania.

And encouraging the humiliating forced transfer to Italy of a handful of desperate people. On a tour of the Mediterranean and Adriatic at our expense, paying for the oil of the ship Libra, the staff, the police force on the other side of the Adriatic and all the rest of this miserable operation.

Perhaps, as some write, Meloni could even say that he was relieved by this transfer of the case to the European authorities. Because the issue would end up placing the decision within the wider scope of European migration policies, where a total rejection of the act with Albania would mean putting all the files on this subject, opened in Brussels, into crisis. It is no coincidence that the Ministry of the Interior will appear before the Court to support the reasons of the executive with a thesis - the one about the decision on the list of safe third countries that we had already talked about - which may even end up successful. Since it is the EU itself that washed its hands of the subject years ago, effectively delegating the decision to member states.

Nothing takes you away from the fact that the political operation, for the moment, has failed. The blitz failed, the Italian legal structure, the centers built on the land made available by our friend Rama are empty and probably frozen for months. Things from the theater of the absurd that should push us to a serious acceptance of responsibility. The project could possibly change face after a long legal retreat in the Court of Justice, if it were to be completed on time and with favorable rulings for the government. And everything will have to be demonstrated, at this point even beyond any future pronouncement like that of the Court of Cassation expected on December 4. Meanwhile, how many rights will we have violated? How much will it cost us and the Albanians? / Adapted " Pamphlet " from "Wired"
