The increase in food and non-alcoholic beverage prices in March 2025 compared to 2020 is a full 37.4%.
So food prices have increased by 37.4% while pensions have increased by 27.5%.
The secondary income of pensioners is remittances from abroad.
100 euros sent by the immigrant son were worth 12,376 lek in 2020. 100 euros sent in 2025 are worth an average of 9,980 lek, i.e. 25% less.
So from 2020 to 2025, the value of remittances from abroad has decreased by 25% while prices have increased by 37.4%.
Even though pensioners have become poorer compared to 2020 (I'm not going back to 2013), I don't know why the question still bothers me: Who will pensioners vote for?
