Everyone is aware that Shkëlzen Berisha's millions are being spent to clear the family name, and it's not about a single $6 million contract.
In the Democratic Party, there is a much greater willingness than Sali Berisha himself to defend the 6-million dollar contract to clean up his image, accused of corruption and undermining democracy in the US.
Dozens of DP figures, from those who were eager to enter the list to more silent ones, are ready to "break" even Berisha's order not to debate the contract, just to show that they agree - even that $6 million is "not enough" to clear his name.
But the reason for this mobilization is not Berisha.
If it were just about him, there probably wouldn't be such a big involvement.
The real reason is Berisha's children.
Seeing that Berisha's attempt with 6 million dollars could succeed, many within the DP see the risk of the party's legacy in his children, who are currently also "non grata".
Removing this burden from Shkëlzen and Argita Berisha is much more influential for the future of the DP than removing the "non-women" from Berisha himself.
If the "non grata" status of children is lifted, everyone in the DP will turn their eyes to the next real leader of the party - who will no longer be Berisha, but the current financiers of this costly campaign.
Everyone is aware that Shkëlzen Berisha's millions are being spent to clear the family name, and it's not about a single $6 million contract.
In fact, it concerns at least three contracts: The initial lobbying contract of $6 million, another contract still undeclared, for a lawyer who will deal with Berisha's legal issues in the US, for whom it is said that the payment will be determined in another contract, as well as a third contract with Chris LaCivita, which has not yet been made public.
So, it's not about 6 million dollars, but much more.
Moreover, the money does not belong to Berisha personally, but to Shkëlzen and Argita, who are investing to clear the family name so that they can politically inherit the Democratic Party. It is a humiliation to the future masters, as they do not dispute that they have ownership.
In this scheme, the so-called "MAGA" foundation, established in the home of an electrician from Tropoja, is simply a formality that in the future could create more problems than solve anything.
In reality, transfers between the Berisha family and Nuredin Secit are almost certainly a "clearing" relationship with the investments that the Berisha family has in construction in Albania.
Shkëlzen Berisha, through his "proxies" in Tirana, currently has over 60 active building permits, on the coast and in Tirana. The trio of builders acting on his behalf is legalized throughout Albania.
Don't be surprised if, in the future, members of the "Patriotic Foundation" will appear as owners of towers or resorts on the coast to offset lobbying costs.
And precisely because it is the children and not Berisha himself at the center of this scheme, the entire DP and all the journalists who defend Berisha are today much more aggressive than he himself in defending this legal, political and moral scandal – because they are, in fact, on his children's payrolls.
This is why many DP officials or journalists close to Berisha do not "respect" his order not to talk about the contract.
They are already convinced that this is not about Berisha's plight, but about Shkëlzen's investment in the future of the Democratic Party and not simply about Berisha being the "leftovers of the DP."
