The real political problem of the opposition with Edi Rama

Edi Rama, in all the election battles as the leader of the Socialist Party, not only received all the left votes, but also the gray ones, even very right ones.

Today, this opposition is what it is, with the problems caused by Sali Berisha, who does not allow new arrivals from areas he does not control. But this is not the only problem of this opposition, or of the Albanian right. After all, the real problem is political.

It is political since the opposition or the right has come to power except on March 22, 1992 which was an accepted non-political logic, on July 3, 2005.

The arrival in 2005 happened only as a result of the split of the Socialist Party. The electoral system was such that in majority areas the candidate who wins one more vote won. But before 2005 another political development had taken place. The elections of 2000. When Edi Rama, as a candidate for mayor of Tirana, received about 7,000 more votes than his party.

Which meant a gray vote. Which over the years he increased to 10 and 12 thousand. Today Edi Rama has made Tirana a political bastion city of the Socialist Party, which the SP did not have even when it nominated a "gold" candidate like Agim Fagu. Which even today everyone loves, even democrats and socialists. These are normal people, not transgender militants.

This is really the biggest political problem of the right, but also of the left. Edi Rama, in all the election battles as the leader of the Socialist Party, not only received all the left votes, but also the gray ones, even very right ones. In 2000, as a candidate for mayor of Tirana, he achieved an important but not so plebiscite victory. Victory that increased over time in each election. When Edi Rama became the president of the SP, he won in all the big municipalities. Victory, which it still has today, but with a change that also took the democratic bastions in the north such as Shkodra Tropoja and Kukës.

In order to win, the opposition must either "kill" Edi Rama politically, or present a vision different from Rama's. In order to "kill" him, all he can do is hold Sali Berisha and Ilir Meta, who, although many consider them important, are fossils for most.

To bring a new thing, he has it in hand. But more than electoral reform, they need to bring people, people out of the way, to compete with Edi Rama. Maybe not 100 percent but as much as they can. So far they haven't done it, since the real oligarchs of the opposition have set their checkpoints, even though they are anti-popular.

Today, Edi Rama is an indisputable leader of the socialists, who managed to vote for him from 2007 to today.

In 2009, Ilir Meta and Fatos Nano managed to get some votes, but they still did not drop him from the first party in the country. Today, SP is not just the first party, but the majority, in every electoral unit. To defeat the Socialist Party, the opposition must receive more than 800,000 votes, which the DP never received. Even with the train of allies who benefited from the favors brought by the municipalities, but which do not exist today. Shkodra and Tropoja, today, are not examples of the defeat of the opposition, but models of how the SP has regained the consensus that the socialists have considered stolen.

In 1996, a PD leader in Shkodër became famous with the expression that if the elections become normal, the Socialist Party will win. They sacked the deserter, but SP won after 20 years.
