Today, no one agrees to run for the DP in Tirana, because defeat is seen as certain.
On October 1, 2000, Edi Rama's first victory occurred and the decline of the Democratic Party in Tirana began.
It has been 25 years since the citizens of the capital have not voted for the DP, including Lulzim Basha, who lost by 10 votes, but was later "gifted" the mandate by the CEC.
So why doesn't Tirana vote for the Democratic Party, neither for the Municipality nor for the government?
The DP, from a civic party, transformed into a provincial party, provoking a reaction in the capital. In 2000, three authentic rookies were expelled from the race: Dash Shehi, Buron Kaceli and Bamir Topi. The DP, from a party of students and intellectuals, expelled and eliminated all of its founders.
During its first 10 years (1991–2000), the DP destroyed the capital with kiosks, illegal construction, palace additions, and urban chaos.
The DP gave priority to the "occupiers" and not to the indigenous owners: it set up bastions in Bathore, Kamëz, and the suburbs, stimulating the "land of Xanun" phenomenon.
Today, no one agrees to run for the DP in Tirana, because defeat is seen as certain. Meanwhile, every mayor of Tirana during these 25 years, Rama, Basha and Veliaj, has had ambitions to be prime minister.
Why aren't Berisha, Flamur, Albana, Jorida, Alimehmeti, Gazmenti, Agroni, Pollo, Belindi competing?
Why did several years ago some personalities like Besnik Mustafai, Spartak Ngjela, Sokol Olldashi, Halim Kosova compete and today they can't find names?
Is Tirana so insignificant that democratic leaders avoid the race, knowing that a victory in the capital would be the antechamber to a political rotation in the parliamentary elections?
There are many examples around the world where prime ministers have previously been mayors:
• Great Britain: Boris Johnson (London)
• Italy: Matteo Renzi (Florence)
• France: Jacques Chirac (Paris)
• Turkey: Recep Tayyip Erdogan (Istanbul)
• Israel: Ehud Olmert (Jerusalem)
Finally, I want to recall a slogan from 1990 during the first protests:
"Heroic trainee with the Democratic Party."
This slogan was covered by the slime of the leeches.
In its place, Qazim Mulleti's "expression" rings out: "When the countryside descends into the city, the nation is in danger."
In fact, Qazim Mulleti's satire did not have in mind simple villagers, but provincials who rise to positions in Tirana but remain poor in spirit, poor in mentality, hating Tirana and an obstacle to civilization.
This is exactly what Tirona sees in the DP today:
“A national danger.”
Maybe Qazim Mulleti exaggerated a bit, but not Dritëro Agolli when he said:
"You can take a villager out of the village, but not the village out of the villager"
Even if they change 7 skins today, they will never win the capital………
PD eshte e konsumuar. Normal qe e vetme me kandidat politik eshte tia dhurosh bashkine e Kryeqytetit. PD duhet te ngrihet mbi interesin e vet, dhe ti hap rruge dhe mbeshtes nje kandidature te opozites jo politik. Te mbeshtetet nga gjithe forcat e opozites. Vetem nje levizje e tille krijon fryme dhe shance per te fituar. Eshte turp qe ky pafillo kryem, kaq i paafte dhe korruptuar, kaq i konsumuar dhe bajat te vazhdoj te fitoj. Do mbahet mend si njeriu qe jep leje ndertimi, qe shkaterroi me dashje per qellime perfitimi Tiranen, qe shtrydh oligarket, qe shet pa asnje pike turpi bashkepunetoret, qe kurre nuk arriti dot te ndertoj shtet, nje perfaqesues i denje i krimit te organizuar, qe e ka kthyer administraten si LSI dikur, i pafytyre psikopat. Njerezit duhet ti kthehen dinjitetit dhe vlerave njerezore, te reagojne ndaj padrejtesise dhe kirrupsionit. Po betonohet gjithcka, ndotje zhurme trafik korrupsion. Hapur diten per diell. Tirana eshte bere e pabanueshme. Pse kaq te dhunuar dreqi e mori?!?!?!?!??
