DP, when Yuri Kim came out in front of the headquarters and stated the US position that they have a chance to turn the party into an alternative, it was not a joke, but a serious version.
In the Albanian context it is sacrilege to compare the political reality with that of Serbia. But it is not at all new. Here, for over 34 years, scoundrels with scientific degrees obtained during the time of the Party of Labor have been talking about Albanian socialists who are Milosevic's twins. Analysts who have drowned the toxic Kosovar press without a point of argument, spewing poison and slander without any logical restraint.
However, the most authentic model of politics similar to that of Serbia is political seselism, when the Serbian Radical Party split in the 2000s and from it emerged the leading group that has been governing the country since 2012.
Vojislav Seselj is a professor and doctor of law at the University of Belgrade. An ideologue and practitioner of one of the greatest horrors of the late 20th century: ethnic cleansing.
With the fall of Milosevic, Seselj's Radical Party took on the dimensions of an anti-Western political formation and an ally of Russia. But the US, Great Britain and the EU, in order to preserve the investment they had made in Bosnia and Kosovo, promoted a split in this party, where its two main names, Tomislav Nikolic and Aleksandar Vucic, Seselj's aides, managed to remove the fearsome son from the possibility of governing Serbia.
And so it happened, Nikolic and Vucic formed the Serbian Progressive Party, taking with them parts and remnants of Milosevic's allies and his wife Mira Markovic, which was in fact the same thing.
Vučić and Nikolić managed to form a party that gradually took over the country, finding pro-Russian and pro-Western allies. However, the goal was to isolate the man who brought them into politics, the “Terrible Doctor” of the Belgrade University law department.
It was not an easy path, as Seselj maintained his Radical party, taking municipalities and gaining MPs, but today it has become a marginal political factor, which he seems to have accepted himself.
Seselj, who has been convicted by the Hague Tribunal for War Crimes, is not sanctioned in his family by the great powers.
He appears on Serbian television mainly as a political analyst, where of course he has his own extreme positions, but he is followed by a fanatical audience, and he is also of interest to the rest. Because even though he is extreme, he has his arguments.
In his political path, he saw a strong trajectory; Seselj was sidelined by important Western lobbies, who warned the colonels and paramilitary doctors that otherwise the party would be destroyed. And the transformation into the SNS took place.
A party that is clearly not Western, but that is not hostile to the West. A party that is clearly a close friend of China and Russia, and that the West uses and provokes either as a negotiator or as furniture as in the case of Israel and Ukraine. After all, real politics is not done according to the appetites of the tycoons of our region.
DP, when Yuri Kim came out in front of the headquarters and stated the US position that they have a chance to turn the party into an alternative, it was not a joke, but a serious version.
Today, as all the polls are showing, Berisha's party, no matter how much it has the inertia of a reminiscence where it holds the majority of the fanatics' sympathy center, is heading towards certain disintegration, as it finds no link.
The Grand Coalition is simply an image that does not work, while all the real factors of the old DP and the new opposition want to stay away from Sali Berisha.
These factors, of course, distinguish many things from Berisha, but the main one is the clear and unconditional pro-Western alignment. Berisha has this alignment with conditions; when they insult him, he makes an enemy, when they don't insult him, he makes a friend.
Or he tries to make a friend of him; like Seselj who tried to become a Trumpist but no one cared.
