Shkodra

Call each other 'legends' as much as you like, but Shkodra today is unfortunately immersed in an unparalleled intellectual misery...

A city that, every time it is called to talk about its fate during the last two decades, has at least 10,000 votes for Agron Çele and 15,000 votes for Tom Doshi at any moment, it is not doing well.

A city where 99% of women who engage in political processes still have their idol Jozefina Topallin, is in complete misery. I'm not talking about the attitudes towards Berisha because it's not worth mentioning anymore. Things are connected to each other, so as Shkodër, we do not produce any decent public figures, with real politicians, nor quality analysts or journalists who are listened to with pleasure.

Small communities such as Albanian cities damage the denunciation of phenomena as behind them there are always people that everyone knows.

Call each other 'legends' all you want, but Shkodra today is unfortunately immersed in an unparalleled intellectual misery.

In 30 years of democracy, I personally have not met any public figure of our city who excels in rhetoric. Maybe I am influenced by my field of international relations, but to some extent, the only public person with an intellectual level (the kind of caliber that I think is needed) that Shkodra has produced in democracy is Ditmir Bushati, but even the latter did not have that "spark ” which beautifully combines intellectualism with “savagery” to defeat the other in public.

Let's not talk about ambitions for high-level leadership, an ambition that no Shkodran has shown or possessed during these decades.

All of them have been satisfied with useful delegations in certain positions, which have regulated their personal well-being, never wanting to be a force for change at the macro level.

The day when we have Shkodra at the head of the parties or a Prime Minister from our city seems distant, but it doesn't have to be like that.

Shkodra must ignite its soul and spirit once again, that spirit for which it maintains itself, that spirit that 'Tirana' uses to finish its work better than its own Shkodra.
