The National Consultation was a farce and this was evident from the manner in which it was implemented. Instead of organizing a referendum on the topics it asked in the questionnaire, the government distributed envelopes with 12 questions to citizens' homes.
Whenever critics remind Edi Rama of the interest of the Albanian people, he has an expression ready; "Albanian people are wiser than you remember". But from the stupid mockery he has made with the answers of the citizens in the National Consultation, it seems that even he himself does not believe what he says.
If we go back to the beginning of July, the prime minister made a surprise statement and declared the end of the Balkans open. Suddenly, he called it a mission accomplished, which had come to an end.
After that, Lapsi.al returned to the arguments with which Edi Rama defended his adventure with Vucic through the response of 59% of Albanians who had supported the National Consultation. Out of more than 500,000 respondents, it turned out that the majority were in favor of a region with free movement of people, goods and ideas.
It is understood that with the sudden turn to end the Open Balkans, Rama threw the answers of the National Consultation in the trash. The envelopes of hundreds of thousands of citizens no longer had any value, unlike what was propagated at the beginning of last year.
But the mockery did not end there. When the answers of the National Consultation are useful, they are returned as arguments. In the presentation of the draft law on the legalization of cannabis, the Minister of Health, Ogerta Manastirliu, started her speech in parliament precisely with the results of the National Consultation.
"Over 61% of citizens asked during the National Consultation answered that Albania should allow state-controlled cultivation, processing and export of cannabis for medical reasons," said Manastirliu.
According to Rama and Manastirli, the 300,000 citizens who responded with an envelope should be heard when they are in favor of legalizing cannabis for medical use, but they can be easily ignored when they are in favor of the Open Balkans.
This logic is explained in the arrogance of the third mandate of the Renaissance government.
The National Consultation was a farce and this was evident from the manner in which it was implemented. Instead of organizing a referendum on the topics it asked in the questionnaire, the government distributed envelopes with 12 questions to citizens' homes. There was no transparency about the procedures by which they were counted and how the results were obtained. Of course, in the end, the results were in favor of the issues that the government was defending.
But from mockery to mockery, something else is also understood; that unlike what he says in public as if he thinks the people are wise, Rama governs in reality as if he is leading a flock of lost sheep who follow him in every case./ Lapsi.al
