Puppet Theater and why Rama is never wrong!

Does anyone dare to do the same in the PS in the shadow of Rama?!

The drafting of lists of deputies by the two main parties in the country and then the tricks of the new parties predicted the level of the 2025-2029 legislature. The closed lists, from which a large part of the deputies emerge, and the indirect support for certain characters on the open lists make our parliament an institution almost appointed by the will and desire of the respective leaders of the SP and the DP, Rama-Berisha.

This is a concern that is no longer addressed, first because the constitutional changes of 2008, no matter how they are interpreted today, are fanatically preserved by the Socialists and Democrats; and second because it is impossible to change a trend that has so greatly benefited an amalgam that has taken over parliament. The drafting of lists, the chaos, the insistence on being there at all costs, the movements without any ideological axis of many representatives, the names and alleged political attributes on the closed list of the DP, the structure of the composition of the "Great Albania" coalition, the 'renewal' and the introduction of weightless individuals on the closed lists of the SP, the mess with the names on the closed lists of the new parties added to that concern that is becoming grotesque for the public: the people who represent us are far below the expectations that Albanians have for their leaders.

And, when you consider that our parliament has 140 seats, where we largely have individuals whom we do not know and whose contributions, apart from raising the card, are zero, the perception arises that this parliament must necessarily be reduced to a size that serves the public and the country's concerns as much as possible in the most professional manner, in accordance with the various fields of the country's interests and the other to adapt to the country's demographics. Officially, our country has 2.4 million inhabitants, but the opposition claims that wherever it comes to power it will file a lawsuit for the results of the census that they define as less than 2 million inhabitants. Parliamentary reform is more than necessary if our country is to seek to respond realistically to the various problems, but also to the great commitment that it will have from now on with the opening of the various groups-chapters of integration, a process that is progressing at an unimaginable pace for Albanians.

In the communist Assembly before 1990, there were 250 deputies, representing the entire social stratification of the country, from workers and simple peasants to the most prominent academics and intellectuals of the time. They met very little during the legislatures, they approved everything, and this inertia continued until 1992, when the deputies themselves did a good job of reducing the number of deputies to 140. In terms of how much and how they represent, specialists have found that this number is extremely inflated and costly compared to a large number of European countries and beyond, in terms of population-deputy representation of the respective parliaments.

This is also confirmed by their quality, which leaves much to be desired. "The current legislature, according to the periodic reports of the Institute of Political Studies, has shown significant weaknesses in terms of the quality of parliamentary life, the level of engagement, as well as the constitutional role of the Assembly. Numerous incidents, collective exclusions, harsh rhetoric, the lack of opposing voices, bespoke laws, abuse of office, the lack of transparency and accountability, as well as the crisis of confidence in parliament, were also a phenomenon and feature of the parliamentary sessions of 2024," we quote one of the latest reports of the Institute of Political Studies.

If we were more blunt: the Albanian parliament is too many for 140 representatives. Not only the financial burden of maintaining and spending them could be transferred to other things, but also the lack of efficiency of all sorts of characterless characters, who, with their incompetence and the nonsense they say, are superfluous. The demographic argument supports our idea even more, since today there are far fewer Albanians in the country and a whole mass is still waiting in readiness to leave. The hemorrhage of departure cannot be stopped by weak legislators, whose job is mostly to wait for the next message from the speaker on their mobile phone and the majority to order them to rush to parliament against everyone.

So parasitic, blind and often stubborn is this blind mass that due to militancy we will probably have them in parliament again, while we should have Alimehmet, Tabaku or Erion Braçe and a few others in the safe seats. The most active should undoubtedly be in the representative group of political parties, while those without any idea should be penalized by the parties themselves in the drafting of new lists. It is understandable if there were little political morality and respect for the country. But, does anyone dare to say this to Berisha?! Dash Sula is still struggling with the greatest paradox of his life: being left without a candidacy even though he won in the primaries, just like others. Does anyone dare to do the same in the SP in the shadow of Rama?!

Rama-Berisha's cynicism went even further: "The SP, in order to maximize votes despite personalized practices, clientelistic influences and the non-meritocratic system of appointing the closed list, - by placing the government and individuals without a political profile in safe places"; while "the DP's main effort was to maintain the status quo, granting immunities and security to politicians and party leaders who are under investigation, have problems with the justice system or have minimal public support quotas", we quote the Institute of Political Studies.

What could give it a "tick" of sublimity and commitment is that the parliament be reduced numerically, so that it is more reduced by parasites but perhaps worth adapting to the working environments in the original house, the one that the communist regime ironically adapted as the Puppet Theater. In fact, the building carries great historical value since its architecture was a kind of reflection of the demands of the changes that were taking place in our city, which in 1925 would officially be the capital of the country after the proposal in 1920. At that time, it initially served as the House of Officers and was later used as the first Parliament of Albania, where plenary sessions, government meetings, but even diplomatic receptions and concerts were regularly held. It was one of the first administrative buildings in Tirana built in the European style and after the war it would be used for Soviet children.

Even Rama's own instinct probably understood when, in the building recently restored by UNOPS, at the moment of inauguration, he would say: "I apologize, because today [the children] came to the puppet theater and did not come to see puppets on stage like my work, but maybe if they considered me a puppet I could feel a little better, because otherwise I would feel a little worse. The Albanian parliament was here once. I hope that you grow up seeing as little of the Albanian parliament as possible, until you can no longer avoid it". And, the prime minister with instinct is never wrong about this idea, because just as they have transformed the parliament today together with Berisha... this solution is worth it.
