Will the time finally come in Albania when the mind of the ordinary Albanian makes the distinction that artistic value has nothing to do with historical value?
There is an axiom in artistic appreciation which states that the writer of a novel is not responsible for the literary hero he has created.
One cannot accuse a great writer of publishing rank and who has been a candidate for the Nobel Prize several times, which dictator he has met or raised as a character in one of his novels.
Because he receives the Nobel Prize in literature for a work of great literary value and not in history.
And we have to emphasize that the novel is a literary creation that has no relation to historical truth. Shakespeare's Hamlet is not the hero of England's history, but the hero of a literary work that has no relation to historical truth at all.
Can you give an example?
Nobel Prize winners in literature are known to have met the dictators of their country, but this has nothing to do with art.
But in Albania it is still not understood that art is valued for artistic value and not for political or historical value.
Sholokhov in Soviet Basking raised the heroes of communism in the Second World War, but no one connected their literary value with their historical truth when he was awarded the Nobel Prize.
Art has artistic value and is therefore called art, and the highest literary or artistic value is always awarded.
Who cares about the artistic evaluation of whether Macbeth was a murderer or not, Shakespeare's Mahbrth tragedy is evaluated not because it hit Macbeth, but whether or not the tragedy has artistic value as a poem, as a literary treatment and as a value in the great ideas it has expressed in function of art.
Because the tragedy Macbeth is a work of art and not a work of history. In the tragedy Macbeth, the artistic value creates pleasure with the poetic description of Macbeth, by Shakespeare, as a work of art and not as a historical act.
There are many cases in world literature when an individual has been artistically treated as a hero of his country, but this has been analyzed according to the criterion of having or not having artistic value, that he is certainly a character created for appreciation in the artistic pleasure he gives the reader.
Only in Albania do you find individuals who treat the novel as a historical work, at a time when it is completely an artistic creation.
Will the time finally come in Albania when the mind of the ordinary Albanian makes the distinction that artistic value has nothing to do with historical value?
A beautiful literary work that does not have murder as a climax cannot be called a tragedy, but this has nothing to do with historical truth, only with artistic value.
