About 900,000 would not vote at all...
If elections had been held on Sunday, only 52.6% of the country's adult population would have voted. That's what the poll I conducted over the weekend showed. And since the poll sample represented 1.9 million adult residents demographically, geographically, and politically, it can be roughly extrapolated that only 1 million of them would have voted (52.6% of 1.9 million).
Of the 1 million who were ready to vote on Sunday, around 670 thousand would vote for the SP and around 330 thousand for other parties (PD, PL, PR, PDIU, PAA, PBDNJ, PSD, Bashke, Vërësia, Nisma Bëhet, etc., etc.). While around 900 thousand would not vote at all (see graph 1).
For comparison, last year on May 11, around 765 thousand adult residents voted for the Socialist Party in Albania (around 30 thousand votes were invalid from ballots like newspaper sheets). Around 700 thousand voted for the other parties mentioned above (around 27 thousand votes were invalid). While around 435 thousand did not vote at all (see chart 2).
