The seal was solved, the issue of power was not!

With the seal in his pocket, Sali Berisha solved his personal problem, but postponed the solution of the major problem of the entire opposition.

The two moments summarized by the title of this article were and are the two major procedural obstacles that separate the Democratic Party from the position of a normal political force. The quarrel over the stamp was resolved with the cards of justice "captured by Edi Rama", while the return to power continues to remain an elusive optical illusion.

Lulzim Basha's recovery of party symbols is a political victory for Sali Berisha. Another triumph of his inside the party fence, where he has been imposed eternally with a strong hand and a loud voice. Sali Berisha proved that he can control and dominate Lulzim Basha even at a distance, locked in the house on the eighth floor, but even at the age of 80 when many Albanians expect him to finally open the way to normal Albania, outside the chains of transition 33 years old.

By reclaiming the seal, the Restoration solved, at least on paper, the problem of fragmentation and disunity. He also resolved the delicate topic of appearing in the elections with official symbols, without having to enter Ilir Meta's shelter again. By the way, did you see how upset the former president was pretending to congratulate the Doctor on the seal?! As if he wanted to give a start with that bored look to the words that he was ready to ask Berisha for half of the list of candidates in exchange for competing together in the elections under the banner of the Freedom Party.

The battle won by the seal is once again a battle won within the opposition, not a victory over the government and Edi Rama. As such it is a partial and likely unnecessary victory. Because whoever has followed the Albanian politics of the last two years, has seen how Sali Berisha was talking in the pulpit, rallies and Parliament, and on the other hand, how Lulzim Basha was silent with the party's seal and emblem in his pocket. The "low-key" behavior of the president, until yesterday an official of the DP, is one of the political mysteries surrounding the opposition after 2022, which shows that the Berisha-Basha report was not only what we saw on the screens and read in newspapers and portals. . Lulzim Basha's silence, his obstinate withdrawal into the shadows while it was up to him to speak and even shout, is a dark aspect of his relationship with Berisha and is probably the main reason why we have this situation within the Democratic Party today.

Sali Berisha can sit quietly in the armchair of his house and start thinking about the lists of candidates for the upcoming elections. It is a moment of pleasure that Albanian political leaders enjoy to the point of perversity when they see serviles of all colors, or "chains" as Edi Rama calls them, come around to grab some piece of power.

With the seal in his pocket, Sali Berisha solved his personal problem, but postponed the solution of the major problem of the entire opposition. Because stamps and emblems are just a decorative issue for a group that chooses to follow an overused political figure and without any guarantee of victory after 11 years of being in the opposition.

If a blue flag and a coat of arms were enough to win over Edi Rama, everything would be easier. But the question of power in Albania passes today only through the removal by vote of a majority that does not show any sign of withdrawing from power. And the figures that reflect the likeability of Albanians confirm the same tendency.

By following Berisha (with or without a stamp), the Democrats are pushing the issue of party head rotation, which is directly related to the return to power. Sali Berisha can no longer win any election. It offers only the spectacle of the Alley, crude language and threats that do not scare anyone. By keeping Berisha, now also in the name of the party's seal, the democrats are showing themselves to be blind and short-sighted. While you need a new party leader, with a completely different vision and approach to the present and the future, the current PD is clinging to the suit of a man who can only offer the nostalgia of victory, not the victory itself. Berisha achieved his political objective: to keep everyone in line and beat them every time they sit on his knees. The point is that another target must be captured, the return to power is needed. And here the Berisha formula leads surely to defeat. The stamp crisis was resolved, the issue of power was not!
