But the refusal, as Lapaj tries to sell it, always if it happened, does not have to be a martyrdom. Of course, everyone is free to feel as they want, but the reality in an alternative system is not okay when an opposition politician refuses to be in a government with the majority.
On the contrary. He can make a news story the first time he reveals the fact of the invitation, the refusal along with the reasons and the relevant comments. But there is no reason to either victimize or heroize himself.
Even if the fact of the invitation is true, it does not mean first of all whether it was a real invitation or a provocation. An invitation that could turn into reality, or an attempt to test the seriousness of a potential political player.
A few days ago, another character critical of the government, who a few years ago was appointed deputy minister of education, was called a man of integrity during a television show, simply because he had resigned from the position Edi Rama had appointed him.
In fact, these are not the only characters who show their martyrdom for refusing to work with Edi Rama, but there are also others who have left or been fired over the years. Some have even gone astray to avoid facing justice, emerging as outspoken dissidents.
The real problem in Albania is not who is not unhappy about being part of Edi Rama's government, since firstly, the latter creates all the conditions for such a possible candidate to become one, and secondly, the main problem is the need for a political rival to challenge Edi Rama, not a repentant deputy of his.
