A person has been arrested by police in Tirana, after allegedly failing to pay around 20,250 euros in wages to five employees at his business, a hairdresser in the capital.
It is learned that criminal proceedings have been initiated against the wife of the 41-year-old arrested man.
According to the official announcement, the investigations began after reports from five employees, who claimed that they had been exploited in the workplace, not being paid for the work performed and being deceived by their employers.
They are charged with the criminal offenses of "Fraud", "Illegal Employment", "Hiding Income", "Non-payment of Taxes and Duties" and "Smuggling of Other Goods". It is also suspected that the equipment with which the economic activity was carried out in this entity was illegally imported into the country.
"The employees of their business (hairdressing salon) were not paid their salaries (around €20,250 in total), the owner is being arrested and his wife is being prosecuted."
It is also suspected that the equipment used to conduct economic activity in this entity was smuggled.
As a result of the rapid administration of the reports of 5 citizens, who were exploited in their workplace (hairdressing), not being paid for the work performed, as well as being deceived in this regard by their employers, specialists from the Sector for the Investigation of Economic and Financial Crimes in the Criminal Police Department at the DPPSh finalized the operation codenamed "Collective".
During the operation, citizen BA, 41 years old, was arrested, and the materials were referred to the Prosecutor's Office, where proceedings were initiated against his wife, citizen KB, 38 years old.
The procedural materials were referred to the Tirana Prosecution Office for further action, for the criminal offenses of "Fraud", "Illegal Employment", "Hiding Income", "Non-payment of Taxes and Duties" and "Smuggling of Other Goods", the police announced.
