Three Albanian citizens have been arrested by Italian carabinieri, suspected of a series of robberies against businesses in several regions of northern and central Italy, with a particular focus on jewelry stores.
According to Italian media, the suspects, aged 37, 38 and 40, were detained last weekend by the Carabinieri of Bassano del Grappa, in the metropolitan area of Milan.
Investigations show that the gang started its activity in Lombardy, then moved to other regions such as Veneto, Tuscany, Emilia-Romagna and Marche. In the province of Vicenza, they are suspected of having committed three robberies in June last year.
Two of the cases were registered in Isola Vicentina, on the night between 25 and 26 June. According to investigators, the perpetrators damaged the alarm system of a wholesale warehouse and entered its premises, taking goods and money worth around 25 thousand euros, including over 15 thousand euros in cash, computer equipment and alcoholic beverages. Another robbery attempt in the same area failed after the alarm was activated.
The following night, in Villaverla, the three suspects are accused of breaking into another business after cutting a hole in the perimeter wall, taking checks, money orders and 10,600 euros in cash.
According to the Carabinieri, the perpetrators used high-powered vehicles registered in the names of third parties and with cloned license plates. During the checks at their logistics base, around 53 thousand euros and over 2 thousand dollars in cash, five luxury watches, 11 traveler's checks, various jewelry, over 23 kilograms of silver, two counterfeit license plates, 63 cartridges of various calibers and a 9x21 type firearm, reported stolen during a robbery in Arezzo in September 2024, were seized.
The three arrested are charged with aggravated robbery and attempted robbery. They were also arrested in flagrante delicto for illegal possession of weapons and ammunition, as well as for involvement in receiving stolen goods.
After the completion of the procedures, the three were sent to the “San Vittore” prison in Milan. Investigations continue to identify other businesses that may have been affected by the group's suspected activity and to verify the origin of the seized goods.
