A 19-year-old woman who was declared an international wanted person has been arrested in Tirana on behalf of German authorities.
The young German citizen Maryam Assaf was internationally wanted after the Hanover Court sentenced her to 10 years in prison for drug crimes in June 2025.
Albanian authorities are carrying out procedures to extradite him to Germany.
"The 85th phase of the police operation codenamed "Operationalja" is being finalized by the Directorate of the Special Operational Force, in the Criminal Police Department, for the localization and capture of internationally wanted persons.
Sentenced to 10 years in prison in Germany for drug crimes, the 19-year-old is captured in Tirana.
Following the successive operations conducted by the Directorate of the Special Operational Force, as well as thanks to the exchange of information between the DFPO services and their German counterparts, within the framework of the 85th phase of the operation codenamed "Operacionalja", the DFPO operational services located and captured the German citizen, Maryam Assaf, 19 years old, in Tirana.
This citizen was wanted internationally, after in June 2025, the Hanover Court sentenced her to 10 years in prison for criminal activity in the field of narcotics.
"Her provisional arrest was made with the aim of extradition to Germany," the police announced.
