Shkodra police arrested a 51-year-old man who has been protesting with other citizens for almost a month in Rrjoll, where it is alleged that businessman Bashkim Ulaj will build a tourist resort, while residents have had their property taken away with forged certificates.
According to the authorities, citizen N. M, along with other people, organized the protest in the village of Rrjoll, where residents of the area say that their homes are being taken away to build a tourist resort.
According to the police report, the 51-year-old, along with others, attacked employees of the private security company and destroyed machinery belonging to the company carrying out the work.
"The Crime Investigation Specialists of the Velipojë Police Station detained citizen NM, 51 years old, resident of the village of Pulaj, for the criminal offenses of "Destruction of property", "Opposition of an employee performing a state duty or a public service" and "Intentional serious injury", after on 28.02.2026, in the village of Rrjoll, in cooperation with other citizens, residents of the area, they organized a protest to obstruct the works being carried out by a construction company.
"During the protest, they attacked employees of the private security company, one of whom was seriously injured, and destroyed machinery belonging to the company carrying out the works," the Police statement said.
