The testimony of the 50-year-old Albanian, an accomplice in the murder of a 69-year-old notary in Zakynthos, by 3 Albanians in an attempt to steal the money, has been revealed.
According to the testimony of the 50-year-old man, who lived in Nemea, the idea for the robbery belonged to the 54-year-old (the perpetrator), who had been talking to him about the victim for months, claiming that she had a lot of money at home.
When the coworker expressed hesitation, he told him: "Don't worry, everything will be fine, we won't hurt anyone."
They conducted surveillance the day before the event and closely followed the movements of the notary, whom the 54-year-old had under surveillance and knew left the office every day at 8:00 PM.
The two men, previously employed in construction, had decided to act on the morning of that fateful day. According to the 50-year-old, the 54-year-old took a knife with him from the kitchen, despite being under the influence of alcohol, and refused to postpone the plan, even though his co-worker asked them to wait.
Masked and wearing gloves to leave no trace, they ambushed the 69-year-old as she returned home. She started screaming and the 50-year-old asked his accomplice to surrender and leave, but the 54-year-old refused.
At the crucial moment, as the victim continued to scream and try to escape, the fatal collision occurred. According to the 50-year-old, he saw the two struggle on the ground, with the 69-year-old lying heavily bleeding on the floor after being stabbed in the left thigh, a wound that led to fatal hemorrhage.
Despite the woman losing blood uncontrollably, the 54-year-old insisted on continuing the robbery, showing no concern for her condition.
After the act, they walked for more than an hour to avoid capture. They were then picked up by the 19-year-old son of the main perpetrator, who acted as the driver and, according to witnesses, had thrown the knife into a field to hide the evidence.
He claimed that the blow to the victim was "accidental" during the fight. At the end of his testimony, the 50-year-old said that the reason he agreed to participate in the robbery was his difficult financial situation and his tax debts.
