12 people have been arrested by the police during the third phase of the anti-drug operation codenamed "Andromeda", carried out in Gjirokastra. 10 of the arrested have been placed under "prison arrest" while two of them are under "house arrest".
The arrested are suspected of being organized as a group and involved in the criminal activity of selling narcotics in doses, mainly in Gjirokastra.

The number of those arrested in this operation has reached 17. The operation, as a result of a several-month investigation pursued with proactive methods, the Narcotics and Trafficking Investigation Section at the Gjirokastra Police Department in cooperation with the Directorate of the Special Operational Force at the Criminal Police Department, at the DPPSH under the direction of the Gjirokastra General Jurisdiction Prosecutor's Office.
During the third phase, security measures were executed for 12 citizens (10 of them with the security measure "Arrest in prison" and 2 with the security measure "Arrest at home"), members of a criminal group implicated in the sale of narcotics, in the city of Gjirokastra.
Following the investigation conducted with proactive methods within the framework of the anti-drug operation codenamed "Andromeda", under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, the Trafficking and Narcotics Investigation Section, in cooperation with the Operational Sector at the Gjirokastra Police Department and with the Directorate of the Special Operational Force of the DPPSh, the security measures "Arrest in prison", determined by the Gjirokastra Court, were executed for the following citizens:
- HH, 38 years old, DO, 38 years old, KG, 26 years old, BC, 42 years old, R. Gj., 33 years old, and ET, 35 years old, residents of Gjirokastër, for the criminal offense "Production and sale of narcotics, committed in collaboration."
- IK, 49 years old, ED, 22 years old, E. Ç., 36 years old, residents of Gjirokastër, for the criminal offense "Production and sale of narcotics";
-As well as for citizen Th. K., 41 years old, resident of Gjirokastra, for the criminal offense of "Exercising illegal influence over persons exercising public functions".
Also, the security measures "House arrest" were executed for citizens EN, 25 years old, and MF, 23 years old, both residents of Gjirokastra, for the criminal offense "Smuggling of other goods", committed in collaboration.
The investigations show that these citizens, in collaboration with 5 others arrested on 25.10.2024 and 13.11.2024, organized as a group, are implicated in the criminal activity of selling narcotics, in doses, mainly in Gjirokastra.
Also, in cooperation with the AMP, the security measures "Suspension of the exercise of a public function or service" were executed for citizens LK, 32 years old, and OB, 29 years old, both residents of Gjirokastra, with the duty of police officers at the Kakavija BCP, for the criminal offense "Abuse of duty", committed in collaboration.
During the checks carried out to find material evidence with the aim of legally documenting the criminal activity of these citizens, considerable amounts of monetary value, narcotics Cannabis and Cocaine, combat ammunition, mobile phones, vehicles, forged documents, smuggled goods, etc. were found and seized.
The procedural materials were transferred to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Gjirokastra, for further action.
