Greek police have discovered an arsenal of weapons in an apartment in Aharnon, Athens. According to the police, the incident is related to the arrest of 37-year-old Ermal Meko from Berat. The latter, with a serious criminal record in Greece, including assaulting the police, was caught on the evening of October 2 in the same area with 2 grenades, 2 lighters and 58 cartridges, while his accomplice ran away and remains still unidentified.
The police searched a house in Aharnon where they found and seized 5 improvised explosive devices, 5 improvised time delay mechanisms, 5 grenades, 4459 cartridges, 1 improvised firearm, 25 fireworks, 6 silencers, 3 bulletproof vests, weapon binoculars, bayonets, weapon parts, 2 knives, metal shredder, 70 combs, 8 comb holders.
The Greek police are investigating the purpose of keeping this arsenal of weapons and are working to identify the accomplice of Ermal Mekos.
The 37-year-old from Berat was arrested in Greece in 2011 for a series of serious charges, including assaulting the police, but also robbery and drug possession, who was sentenced to 53 years in prison, but only served 8 after being released on July 11. 2019 and was repatriated to Albania. It turns out that he returned to Greece with the same name but with a changed last name.
