Albanian gang of robbers, the bosses were caught in Paris; they stole villas and

New details have emerged from the Spanish police operation against an Albanian organization suspected of robbing businesses, villas and apartments in several regions of the country.

The operation codenamed 'Byzantia' was carried out almost at the same time as the major operation to crack down on a cocaine cartel from South America to Pontevedra, where 1.1 tons of drugs were seized.

Six Albanians suspected of being part of a gang of 'hawks' were arrested in Pontevedra, Vigo and Vilanova. The operation began in the first days of January this year and lasted for days.

The reason for this has been the numerous complaints from citizens in the Galicia region. Robberies have also been carried out in the Spanish capital, Madrid, in La Coruna and even as far away as Paris.

The investigations had started in 2023, as the arrested individuals were registered for their criminal activity. The gang was itinerant and also operated in Italy and France, where it stole cars, installed false license plates and had separate roles in the criminal activity.

The damage caused so far is 300 thousand euros, mainly in valuables, jewelry, euro cash and other materials.

The two ringleaders were arrested in Paris, awaiting extradition. A Spanish court has ordered the six to be held in prison. There are also arrest warrants for other people suspected of being members of the robbery group.

The operation also extended to Leon, Barcelona and Toledo, which have been targeted by the organization because they are known as regions where upper-class people live and there is good 'hunting'.

Even 4 of the suspects were arrested in these last two areas.

But it has also been noted during investigations and footage seized from security cameras that the members of the group were well-trained, trained in military tactics and a 'modus operandi' in committing crimes, with separate roles, from the attack group to that of hiding and selling goods, the Iberian country's media reports.

The profits from the sales were brought to Albania and the money was laundered through certain schemes.
