The state police today gave details regarding the operation started two days ago with the seizure of a dinghy and the arrest of two Albanian citizens wanted internationally for the violent theft of several motor vehicles in northern Italy.
It is a joint operation that has continued at the same time in Italy, Albania, Switzerland, Slovenia, France and Belgium, and was coordinated by the General Secretariat of Interpol in Lyon.
In total, during this operation, in Italy and Albania, 14 citizens were arrested and for 3 other citizens, the security measure "House Arrest" was executed.
As part of this operation in Vlora, 2 internationally wanted citizens, Eduard Alikaj, 51 years old, resident of Vlora and Fetah Shametaj, 28 years old, resident of Vlora, were arrested and imprisoned. They are suspected of being the perpetrators of the violent theft of 10 motor vehicles in Italy.
The citizens were declared an international wanted by Interpol Rome, after the Court of Turin, with the decision dated 04.05.2023, assigned the security measure "Arrest in prison", for the criminal offense "Theft with violence".
During the control carried out in the premises used by these citizens, in the village of Babicë, 1 suspected stolen excavator, 1 truck, inside which 1 dinghy with a length of about 13 meters, with 3 engines was found and seized. ("Yamaha" brand), with a power of 415 KF, which is suspected to be used for criminal events.
