The Italian police have destroyed the Albanian criminal group that was involved in the cocaine trade for 10 years. The group which functioned in a hierarchical way, where among them was the former doctor Elton Isaj, the 44-year-old Albanian. Isaj, who had been a general practitioner in Monghidoro for less than a month, suddenly abandoned his post a year ago.
According to the Italian authorities, the doctor Isaj had no worries about selling drugs, as he worked immediately after finishing his shift at the hospital.
From the interceptions of December 20, 2021, it was discovered that together with three associates, he sold 500 grams of cocaine to an unknown person in via Garzoni, a few steps from the hospital.
The next day, the doctor Elton Isaj, who is already in Dozza, will appear before the court together with six of the nine arrested people. Three others are in jails in other cities, as is the only suspect who has been under house arrest, who is also currently behind bars due to problems with the lack of electronic bracelets. On Monday it will be the turn of others. Among the security measures are four "compulsory appearances", while two other people are still on the run.
The suspects, who range in age from 17 years old, all Albanians (except three Romanians, one Bosnian and four Italians), are accused of being a structured criminal group, drug trafficking and distribution, and exploitation of prostitution.
According to the Prosecutor's Office, at the head of the group were the two Albanian brothers Marcel and Claudio Cano, respectively 38 and 35 years old, who in a close synergy coordinated and directed the other collaborators, the collectors of illegal income and the transfer of money to Albania.
From their position, they directed the activities and supervised the management of the entire drug distribution structure. They were also responsible for sorting drugs into storage locations and then reselling them to the most important groups.
This well-structured criminal group was also a point of reference for the wholesale distribution of cocaine in the city. The Anti-Mafia investigations, which lasted about two years, also led to the seizure of assets worth two million euros. In addition to drugs, the group also focused on prostitution and trafficking of girls, mostly Romanian.
