A 40-year-old Albanian, with regular residence in Italy, has been arrested in Rovato, in the province of Brescia, on suspicion of trafficking and distribution of narcotics. According to Italian media, he is accused of hiding 17 doses of cocaine inside a package of candy.
The incident occurred two days ago, during a police check in a residential area of Rovato. The patrol noticed a person known for previous offences, who was moving on the street pushing two bicycles.
Media sources report that, upon noticing the presence of the officers, the 40-year-old appeared tense and tried to get rid of a package of candy he was holding. After police intervention and a search, 17 doses of suspected cocaine were found inside the package.
The suspect, who has previous convictions for drug possession and trafficking, has been placed under house arrest and is expected to appear in court following investigative procedures.
