The Elbasan Court has remanded in custody 3 people accused of supplying drugs to convicted and arrested people.
This concerns the Bradashesh Prison police officer, Ndriçim Kroj, who smuggled narcotics into the cell, Esmeralda Komici, a relative of a detainee, and Gerald Stamolla, a detainee at the Elbasan Prison.
The prison police officer, in collaboration with two other people, coordinated to smuggle drugs into the cells. The court has also clarified the decision, explaining the criminal offenses and the reasons for imposing the security measure.
The decision of the Elbasan Court:
"The First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Elbasan has reviewed the case with the object of "Verification of the conditions for the imposition of the security measure and the questioning of persons under investigation", deciding to continue the security measure "arrest in prison" for three people.
The court session took place on 24.01.2026, with a panel of judges headed by Judge Ms. Suela Lika. At the end of the hearing, the court decided:
-Continuation of the security measure "arrest in prison" for citizen Ndriçim Kroi, police officer at the Bradashesh Penitentiary Institution, Elbasan, a measure previously determined by decision no. 748, dated 19.12.2025.
-Continuation of the security measure "arrest in prison" for citizen Gerald Stamolla, detained for the criminal offense of domestic violence, also based on decision no. 748, dated 19.12.2025 of the Elbasan Court.
-Continuation of the security measure "arrest in prison" for citizen Esmeralda Komici, relative of detainee Gerald Stamolla, for whom the measure was imposed by the same court decision.
The court ordered that the persons under investigation continue to remain in the institutions for the execution of criminal decisions, in order to be at the disposal of the proceeding body.
Also, the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Elbasan was charged with the execution of this decision, while the procedural costs were left as they were. The remuneration for the lawyer appointed primarily by the court, RH, will be prepaid by the Judicial Budget Office.
An appeal against this decision is allowed at the Court of Appeal of General Jurisdiction of Tirana, within 5 days, starting from the day after the notification of the reasoned decision. The decision was announced on January 24, 2026.
