Another scandal shakes the ranks of the State Police. The Police Supervision Agency (Tirana Region) has arrested Inspector ML, assigned to the Security Block at the Tirana Local Police Directorate, who is suspected of criminal activity within the very environment where he was supposed to maintain law and order.
According to information provided by AMP, the inspector had been under surveillance for some time, as he was suspected of being involved in the sale of narcotics within the Security Block. His arrest came after confidential reports, which documented a meeting to purchase cocaine that would then be sold within the police structure. During the physical search, the officer was found to be in possession of 0.4 grams of cocaine and 70 euros, which were seized as material evidence.
He is facing charges of "Abuse of office", "Production and sale of narcotics" and "Failure to report a crime", while the materials have been referred to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Tirana. This case reopens the debate on the infiltration of criminal elements within the structures of order and the need for a deep cleansing of the State Police.
